I talk to my son almost everyday, he said they have been busy on the ship and working finally instead of just cleaning. I hope they get everything back to normal soon, whatever "normal" means. lol I know when he is busy working, he doesn't have much time to get homesick.

Good Morning All
Has anyone heard what is happening on the ship? I have not heard from my son Brian since the 16th of Sept (I know it's only about a week) I sent him text messages, but no response yet, probably cause he is busy? I was just wondering if anyone has heard from their sons/daughters and can maybe fill me in.
Thanks just being a mom here!
:)

Oh, and a To My Father card, too. My dad is a Marine.

Also, they were to My Son or Daughter and Husband cards. Bought a ton, have three nephews in the military too. (One Navy, Army and Coast Guard).

I just found the absolutely best Veterans' Day cards at the Dollar Tree store. I couldn't find one card for my sons when they went into the service. A million for graduates, but not one wishing them well on their military journey. I even wrote to Hallmark and American Greetings. Unbelievable. Apparently it's ok to buy a "Happy Birthday to your Pet" card, but not a "Good Luck and Thank You for your Service" card. These cards are made by Tender Thoughts Greetings.

Gio, soft mom here too. My middle son (the baby is on the Bush) is in the Naval Reserve, Seabees, is moving back home! He needs to save money. He had his own apartment, car payment, etc etc....plus a full time job on top of the drill weekends and such, so I say ok, move back home for awhile and save up. He wants to go back to school and can't afford to do so and pay rent. I tell him he's going to pay room and board, and you should've seen his face! LOL...not bending on that one.

Oh yea, bonus has come and gone and I did hear about "my own apartment", "cramped living quarters" already.... Yes, lots of gray hair and I'm also pretty soft...I'm just a mom!

Gio, next is "I want my own apartment, so I don't have to live in a compartment with 12 other guys/gals and have some freedom." and my favorite "Don't I at least deserve some freedom, since my job is to protect everyone elses?" LOL Again, a very large Long Island Ice Tea, or in my case, a Rasberry Bicardi Mojito, works wonders. THE BANK OF MOM HAS CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. And, of course we know it hasn't because I'll send it if he needs it! Yuck, hate being so soft. Oh well. They are defending our freedom and we wouldn't even be here complaining/discussing if they didn't. God Bless America!

Well, 3 weeks, eh? My daughter and I had just had the conversation about when she got her sign on to put it in the bank for at least a few months until she figured out if she was going to be out at sea right away or not, etc. etc. etc. She got the car before she even got the bonus, which of course was applied towards it, but they must by definition learn things the hard way I believe. And give us more gray hairs.
