Heidi, I asked Daniel if he knew Ty and he said yes that he did but that is all he said. His note was very short. I think he was tired. The email before that one he said that he had been studying for the ESWS qualifications and his note today said that he had just finished going before the board and he passed and also did his group so he gets his pin and points for his early promotion that he said he should get in March. He can't wait cuz that is his E5 which after he gets that he can move into a house and off the base. He has been on base since May when he had his tonsils removed they didn't make him go back on the ship so when they are at home he gets to get away from the ship. I wonder how much they work together. Do u live far from Los Alomitos? I usually go there every year in Jan. or Feb. to stay a week with my brother.

Jane, Yeah Daniel use to tell me that to they all go by last names. U said she had been there since june? I think he can look it up did she already do the cranking or did she not have to do it since she went in different? I know Daniel said that everyone had to start it within the first 6 months that they were on the ship but did she go in as an officer? Maybe they might not have to I'm not sure. I now when Aret was cranking and i asked him he was able to look it up to find her last name because they only had 3 new people at that time on the ship. Heidi emailed me privately and gave me her sons last name and I asked Daniel. If u want u can do that it is betancourtracing@earthlink.net. I wish I could go see him but it just isn't in the cards right now and I don't even have a passport. I really need to get that taken care of but the past few months have really been crazy here and doesn't look like it is going to let up tll after Christmas and if we don't get horses bought in this Nov. sale then I have to go to the Jan. sale so then that will add a little longer to the crazyness here. By that time I will be headed to Ca. for my yearly trip to see my brother for my private vacation. lol I never see Daniel in any of those pics either. I wish I knew where he was in the pic on this group. I haven't asked him cuz there is so much that he says he can't say and I wasn't sure if he could all he told me was that they stand in the same spot everytime. well better finish my other note and get back to fixing supper. lol

Hey Terra, I asked Stephanie if she knew a Daniel and she said she mostly knows people by their last names but is sure she has probably worked with him at some point. Stephanie is currently the Fire Control Officer. She was assisting the previous FCO until that person had to all of the sudden do something else and that left Stephanie to do it. I'm glad they're coming in soon - actually on my birthday!! I guess I can say that since it's been anounced! We're sending her brother there during her Christmas leave. They can do all the fun stuff and ya'hooing around they want. They better take some good pictures. It's awful only emailing and talking to them on the phone. I'd like some pictures of her. I do print off all the ones on Eye on the Fleet and 7th Fleet. But I have have yet to see her in one of the pictures of them doing drills. When I go in the springtime we'll do museums and such. Hopefully during this time in port Stephanie can get her stuff moved into her house and determine if it all made it intact, no water damage, no bugs etc. Hopefully the house had no water damage during the typhoon. I would think the landlord would have checked. Maybe the kids will do something fun onboard for Halloween. Sounds like they all need a reason to kick back a bit. Jane, That sounds really fun for Stephanie. Daniel went in right out of high school. He signed up in Jan. 2007 and did the DEP program and left for BC on June 22. He said that he is doing a qualification I think it was ESWS or something like that. Not sure what it is I will have to do some research on it. He has always been a fantastic test taker and has already got one early promotion and is up for another in March. He said he is studying like crazy it must be something that he isn't familiar with, he normally doesn't have to study for tests. I guess he starts his 3 schools in April and they are for 3 months. At least he gets college credits for it. So far he has quite a few. A friend of mine told me that he should clep I think he called it alot of his basic classes while he is in the Navy cause it doesn't cost anything but after he is out he would have to pay to clep them. He said that Daniel should do that for his basics since he is such a great test taker and already knows alot of it. He keeps telling me they keep him so busy that he can't get any time to do anything. But kids will be kids. So u are from Kansas? I grew up in NM but Daniel was raised in Texas and we just moved to Ky when Daniel left for Japan. He has a ex-grilfriend there in Japan that keeps up with me and when we talk about the weather it is also very similar to Ky. When it is raining here when we talk it is raining there and the same with the cold. Well I got to run out and take care of my rabbit and head off to work. ttyl

Tina, so glad he gets to come home, after that last one hopefully u will be well and really have a great time. They don't understand how we just need to touch them and hold them. I guess cuz no matter how old they get they will always be our little babies.lol The last time that I talked to Daniel about coming home he said he didn't have a clue. With his job he can't just come home anytime he wants to put in for leave. He told me once that the only time he can come is in Dec. or Jan. Unfortunatly this time they are both taken and so that looks like next Dec. I want to try to go this spring but have to wait to try to see when they will be at home.

Hi Terra, nice to meet you. My name is Jane. Stephanie has been in the Navy since last June. She graduated from Univ of KS and was commissioned the next day. From what I understand, she's making her rounds in the different sections of the ship. I know she's been on the bridge, radar, the area under the ship where they can manually steer from. I guess they have to know how to operate all sections and she's been working on qualifications. She really enjoyed Australia and Indonesia this past summer. Her brother would like to go see her during the holidays. I might want to go in the springtime depending on when the ship is in. I get the idea that Tokyo climate is very much like Kansas and I will not rush around in 35-40 degree weather. She spent a year studying abroad in Russia. Went there, boy was that an adventure. During that year we met in Paris during the holidays and we stomped around for 10 days in rainy cold weather. I'm too old for that! Stephanie did find a house when they were back in Japan. She's been in it once. Her stuff has been in storage all summer long. Hope they'll be back long enough next time for her to get stuff moved in. Make sure Daniel has a ton of money saved to get into a house. He probably knows that he needs 1st, last, gift for the realtor and gift for the landlord. In Stephanie's case it was about 8,000 in total. She still has to get all her banking stuff situated. She just hasn't been on dry land long enough to do any of it. I keep tabs on the Eye of the Fleet & 7th Fleet websites and hope to see her picture on there someday. I'm collecting photos from those websites and making her a nice 5 by 7 photo album of the most spectacular ones. There were some really nice ones when they were in Indonesia the first time.I guess we can talk about where they've BEEN, right? just not where we imagine they're going. Well talk to you again soon. Hi,Terra. Good to hear from you. I think they are gonna finally let David come back home since his G-Pa passed. I am so very glad. He will actually be going to our hometown. I will have to arrange for us to meet either here ar there. Just as long as I can touch him. lol I know that sounds crazy. He has not been away for more than a month or two when he was visiting his dad... now he is away for a year.
Sorry about the confusion with Daniels visit. Hope he will be able to come home soon. April seems so far away. Last time David was here he was making his rounds before Christmas to visit all the family. We are so spead out. He had a day in a half with us. The first part my hubby had a bad stomach bug and was in bed with a bucket. The next day it was me in bed. Did not get to enjoy it much. I was still overjoyed just to see him and touch him. lol

Hello Heidi, how are u doing? I was going to send u my email address before and forgot so we could get last names to each other since we are not supose to give them out on this site. That way I can ask Daniel about if he knows ur son. He says he knows everyone on the ship but I think he is being a mr smarty pants.

Tina how are u doing? I haven't been on for about a week I had to go to New Mexico to visit my grandmother. She has been in and out of the hospital quite a bit this year and I kept putting it off hoping to take Daniel to see her she really wanted to see him. The last time we saw her was a little over 3 years ago at my dads funeral and before that 3 years at my grandfathers funeral so I really needd to visit before it is hers. Unfortunately Daniel is not getting to come home. He was supose to be going to school not sure what happened there but now they have changed it to April. That is the second time they have messed his schooling up. He spent about 6-8 months qualifying for a Special Ops school and then decided to take his tonsils out when he was supose to go to it. Never mind that they had 1 1/2 years that they could have scheduled it before that which is when they said they were going to remove them. Crazy in my mind but they do what they want.lol Just like this time he was coming home for Christmas and then decided to send him to school for 3 months and then they let someone else go home from is shop and then he is now not going to school. It made me really mad but oh well I guess I'll have to get use to it.

So how is David doing? Daniel said that now he is studying forESWS (Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist) Not sure what that is but plan to find out some how. lol He is not real good at explaining things and he says I ask too many questions.lol Well I better get I heard from Teresa today. They are doing alot of drills. I don't remember them doing so many last year. Makes me wonder what is going on out there in the world that we don't know about. ttyl.

Hello Snuffydog, welcome to the group. Sorry today is the first time I've been able to get on in about a week. What do you want us to call u? My name is Terra. My sons name is Daniel and he has been there almost 2 years. We haven't seen him since he left in Dec. 07. I miss him so much. How long has Stephanie been in the Navy and what does she do? Daniel is a IT3. I know he works with a Stephanie but she has been there for awhile so I think it is a different one. He loves it over there. He should be moving into a house or apartment after March 2010 hopefully. He said that he gets to take his E5 test then and if he passes then he can move off the ship, then he should get a housing allowance. He told me that they could move off before even tho they are not really supose to he said that if they do all they are supose to that they didn't say anything but they just don't get the housing until they are a E5. He is so ready for them to get back home, unfortunatly it will be awhile yet. So far this year they have stayed pretty close to the times that they did last year give or take a few days even tho they have been different places so I kind of know when they will be back. Incase u need my email for things like last names or any other thing that we are not to say on this site it is. betancourtracing@earthlink.net It seems like we have more girls than guys on this ship. lol. Look forward to hearing more from u and getting to know u.
