You wouldn't think it would be too bad, with the important visitor being there. Haven't heard from our son since last weekend. We've been focused on cars today. My husband's car needed work, but it isn't worth it to fix it. Costs more that it's worth. It is always something.

Kim,
Is your son working in the pulp room? They have to seperate all the trash on the ship because they have a lot of rules on what they can throw over board and all the plastic has to be melted down and everything. We only had one pulp room on my (very small) ship but it was located right across from Medical where I worked. It stank so bad (think fuel oil, melted plastic and rotten bananas). I wouldn't worry about the e-mail being down because they run drills sometimes and they shut things down but it is no big deal most of the time.

Congradulations on your anniversary Kim. I am sure your son is none to
happy. But as you said someone has too, I often believe that they put
them in certain places on the ship for some reason or another and not
saying that in a bad way. As he goes thru this deployment and more
if he is new to this he will find his place on the ship in many places
outside anything that has to do with his job. My sons cranking before
they deployed when they were in dock or on quals he had 90 days
of being incharge of the Cheifs quarter housekeeping and he was a
supervisor over 3 guys. Scrubing toliets,showers, making bed,getting
their cloths laundered and so on. After about a week he just couldn't
supervise anymore he had to help cause he could not stand to watch
someone else work while he wasn't. Is a gravy job compared to your
sons but if you screw up its a bad day. So you have to be on your toes
all the time. Just let him know mom he will make it thru and he should
find friends outside of there that make him feel better about himself
and what he is having to do right now. Sadly enough some of them on
that ship just don't care they are there because someone made them.
Or they thought it was going to be more than what it is and they do
everything to try to get out. It takes a good solid man and women to be
a sailor or any part of the military. And that solid comes from the heart
which comes from the home. So you all did good mom.
