Good Morning ladies...... My son does get boxes from the adopt a Sailor or someone and he does SHARE them with the other Sailors. He told me the guys love them. I really think they are just teasing him about getting so many. I am a little offended after reading some of your post that some of you would think my son would keep all of it for himself and not share. Or this is what I feel you are saying. I understand that you all don't really know me or my Sailor but I can tell you I did not raise a selfish child. I am sorry to have to start my morning chat off like this. But I was truly hurt that my sister Moms would be thinking this of me. And I had to get that off my chest. Also I am sorry to hear of all the sickness that is happening in the families. I will be praying for them. I too have the task of writing my son sometime this week and telling him that his Uncle is in the hospital he had a heart attack and today is going to be going into surgery. I am just however waiting the out come before I tell my sailor because I want to give him all the details at one time. I hope everyone has a good day and safe travels for those going home today.

Maggie, I am so sorry to hear about Elsa. I havent been on the group much, so I just found out today. I will keep her in my prayers and please dont lose your faith. Leave it in God's hands, he can make any situation change. Doctors dont have the last word. My brother in law was diagnosed with Hodgkins disease, he went through all the treatments and was in remission for 5 yrs. On one of his annual check ups they discovered that it had come back. He was told that the only way he would probably live a little longer was to have a bone marrow transplant which came along with many risks and complications. Doctors said that was all that was left to do. We all prayed so much and my brother in law decided that he wasnt going to have anything done and that he was putting himself in God's hands and that it was going to be HIS will. He had so much faith and was so positive. He taught us all a big lesson. When he went back for a CAT scan, they couldnt find anything. Doctors couldnt explain it. We all knew it was HIS doing. He is doing just fine, healthy and most grateful. Let's pray for Elsa to get better, hopefully without need for that surgery. Maggie, if there is anything I can help you with, please let me know. I am about 2 hours or less away from you in Simi Valley. Take care. I think you have my phone number or you can email me.

Earlier today I was looking around for birthday cake info and came across these two links elsewhere on this site:

http://tinyurl.com/yh6b3rh

and this link goes directly to the Bake Me a Wish site:

http://www.bakemeawish.com/operation-birthday-cakes.php

Two links that get you to pretty much the same place, the look is slightly different however.

I haven't tried this, folks who have will probably comment and tell us about it.

Looks like a great idea.

Lori I love your story. My son tells me everytime he gets boxes everyone
says lets see what his name fan club sent him this time. He always gives
stuff to everybody that is the reason I do it because I know they all love it.
Like you said Christmas is hard and if we put in a whole new light of the
country in general. So many of us are so blessed to have what we have
and who we have. And that is what Christmas is about the birth of Christ.
And it is a time of giving of whatever it is you have to give. Just something
to help out anyone often a complete stranger. And we have thousands of
men and women from the US far away from home. So there are many
lonely families everywhere.

Alicia,go to SoldiersAngels.com and there is an area to click on for progams
offered to military members and click on Birthday Cake project and just
follow the directions. You will not get a confirmation from them or the cake
company. But they ship once a month and they do deliver my sailor got
his about a week after his birthday and loved it. I can' t pull it up myself
tonight but I can tommrow and just click on my icon and send me
a message and I will help you get it done. Because it can be confusing
it took me a little while to figure it out.

Susan I am so sorry to hear about your brother. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

I just would like to let you all know that I have adopted one of my daughters berth mates. She lost her mom about a year ago and I guess her dad isn't in the best of health, so I became her adopted mom. My husband and I send her and our daughter necessary items about every 2 weeks. They usually let me know what they need and if not I just figure out and send them food shampoo, conditioner deo, snacks, socks, and all other things. They are so greatful. Sometimes my daughter even shares things with the others in her room. For Christmas I made up goodie bags and sent them to her to hand out to all the girls in her room just so they all didn't feel left out, They all told her they want me to adopt them...
We will all miss our Sailor this Thursday but I know they will be with us in spirit...
