Maggie, I am so sorry I never entended to make you feel like a cry baby,
You have every right to be a cry baby if that is you feel you are doing.
I just want you to do to get thru this next week and survive it as much
as possible. You are an amazing mom and wife and nobody can ask
anymore than that out of you.

Maggie, Sorry to hear about your daughter. I will keep her in my prayers. I can't add anything else to say because Sam said it all and as usual, so beautifully.
Sam - you are amazing. Not everyone comes out feeling the way you do after all you been through.
dn - I hope you are right about time flying by after the holidays. I hope it flys by fast for our sailors too.

Nimitzmama,
It is almost like a little sting in your heart when you see all the decorations and you know that your husband/father won't be with you during this time that is for family. I am feeling better this morning and Sam's post made me realize what a big baby I am being. I have so much to be grateful for and I need to stop being a cry baby and get to work. I am going to go call my Grandma because she is always so upbeat even thought she has had a lot of tragedy in her life she never feels badly for herself and she just keeps moving forward. I am going to take a page out of her book and move forward. Thank you for all of your thoughts and encouragement. I need to get to work on getting everything ready for Christmas. Luckily I don't have anyone coming over so I don't have to mess with decorating too much or cooking a whole lot of food with just us four. This is a marathon not a sprint, so I am going to keep my eyes on the spring finish line and not the little bumps that are on the road.

Hey Pat, are you snowed in? I miss snow at Christmas. It is cold down here today but it feels nice. Not cold enough for snow though.

Jennifer, have a Merry Christmas & enjoy your time w/ your family.

Kim, did you ever find out who registered your son for Adopt a Sailor?
Jennifer Comment by Jennifer 20 hours ago
Everyone have a Merry Christmas. I know we will all be missing our sailors. I am off to Texas with my kids for time with my family since my honey will be gone and I don't want to be in our home without him. I am a bit melancoly this year with it being my son's last Christmas at home before Boot camp. This time next year he should be in A school. We should also be PCSing this time next year, so who knows where we will be?
Thank you Julie for all the great pictures and I hope hopefully Paul can get some of my hubby....LOL. He has a bunch, he just hasn't had time to send them. Hopefully next port he can do just that! If so, I will defenitely share!

Julie great pics! I know alot of those people and I don't think any of them are TAD people.....there are 225 people in the squadron. My hubby wasn't in any of the pictures, but I did see our CMC in one of them and several friends. I recognize most of the sailors from our squadron.

For all of you with younger children it's going to be much harder to get thru the holidays then me. I don't have to worry about being in the holiday spirit for little ones, Although I will have my mom, older son & few other family members over for xmas dinner. I didn't have to decorate. I did all my shopping online & had gifts sent directly to everyone. Daughters family will be traveling so don't have to even go see them. My sauce & lazange is made, just have to put antipasta together and then the 26th we are getting out of dodge until after the new year. That's the only way I'm able to cope with james not being here. Maggie, it sounds like a very difficult time for you & having the little ones will make you get through it. I know there's been a few of us that have had losses this year & that doesn't make it any easier, but like Nimizmama said, we have the homecoming to look foward to. I think after the holidays the time will fly & before you know it all our sailors will be home.

Julie,
I love the pictures from the VF 14. Looks like they are all healthy and happy. And I see Christmas stockings in the back ground and A Christmas tree too. I sure hope the VF 41 does something like that. Thanks for sharing them.

I am sorry you all are having a lot of snow. I am in Florida and I am not going to tell you how the weather is here today. Everyone have a good weekend.

Maggie, until I had a kid in this situation of not being home for Christmas I think I never really appreciated the sacrifice our servicemen and women make everyday, but especially at the holidays. My heart cries out for every family having to make this sacrifice too because it's so unnatural not to be together on the holidays. Every ad and Christmas card drive home the point of being with family and friends, especially at Christmas and it's like a little sting to the heart each time you hear that and realize it won't happen in your family this year.

My prayers go out to you and your family to be strong for one another and take courage and strength from the love you have for one another. And then we'll all look forward to a glorious reunion in the Spring. I hope you and the kids will increase your love for one another and for your husband and father and that your family and friends at home can help to fill the void until he returns. And we are always here for each other. Thank you Lord!
