Living in Erie Pa all my life I know why winter is harsh for them in boot camp. Its the Great Lakes and the blasted lake effect snow we get. The air temp mixes with the temp of the lakes and it's like a snow pumping machine!!!! We've been pretty lucky so far this season... knock on wood!
My Sailor Son will be coming home Dec 31st. I got him a ticket that he's stops in DC. Now I'm nervous about what the weather will be like. Just want him home. After that it can snow all it wants...

Tina, I wouldn't ruin Florida with the white stuff!!! I bet a lot of sailors have never seen snow until they spent a winter at Great Lakes! That is COLD and snowy weather there. We don't usually get near as much as they do here in NJ. As a matter of fact we really have not seen much snow in the last 5 years! I think it will make up for that this season!

Marianne, send some of that snow down here to FL. My 17 year old hasn't seen any, as he is a born Floridian. Tom, on the other hand, saw enough of it in boot camp in Illinois.

Marianne, that is BEAUTIFUL! but, shoveling snow I am sure is not fun! I have only been in snow about 3 times in my life. lol.......and Thank You also for sharing. :o) P.S. You would always be welcome at my house friend!

Brenda ~ Wes is coming home on New Years Eve. YEAH! I asked him if he knew your son and he said the name did not sound familar. but, if he saw him he might know who he was. Hope you have a wonderful time in San Diego! :o)

Brenda, Let's put it this way, we shoveled for 2 hours yesterday and it doesn't look like it this AM! My guess is about 14" or so. It looks beautiful outside, but I don't want to be in it. It did put me in the Christmas spirit though. We stayed in most of yesterday and played Christmas music and finalized our menu and last minute gift stuff! Anyway it is Christmas this week and then it will be all done and over for another year! I am really looking forward to my sailors coming home most of all and I don't need a holiday for that!
Patty, thanks for rubbing that in! You might just end up with woman with short blonde hair knocking on your door! We have family in Texas!!!!!

Marianne ~ It has been sunny and about 65-70 deg. here today. I think you need to move south. LOL......and you can send the white Christmas down here. :o)
