Information

USS Theodore Rossevelt CVN 71

If your sailor calls this ship home or will be calling it home in the future - it would be nice to touch base and learn about what to expect while under way. Especially for those of us Moms that are new to having children leave with the fleet

HI everyone, just wanted to say good bye. Jason was transfered to the USS Carl Vinson CVN 70 as of today. He will be leaving for the west coast sometime in Jan. It was great knowing all of you. If your on facebook I'm under Karen Mink. Thanks for all of your support.

HI TR group. Well there is no reason for me to stay here any longer. It's been fun!

Patrick has been out of the Navy since June and all is well. EXCEPT he still hasn't received his GI BILL housing compensation and is basically living on fumes - from his last deployment - He did have to go to a central location for the VA and they handed out checks for those who have been patiently waiting. He got a check for $3000 and they pretty much believe he should start getting his monthly basic housing allowance come Nov 1. THEN he will be able to get his apartment. He has been living in some flea bag motel in Redwood City Ca, while attending college.

Its not a good way to treat our military veterans, making them wait for what they have rightfully earned.

Hi all,

I haven't been on here in a long time! I've missed being here, but have been really busy. I am now the Senior Adult Pastor and Pastoral Care Director at our church which keeps me going.

My daughter and her husband have made Yvonne and me new grandparents for the first time - a grandson who they named Jacob Benjamin. Fortunately they live about half an hour from us so Yvonne makes sure we go up to see him every week.

Our ministry to the military also continues every weekend in Virginia Beach. We're actually waiting for some of our sailors to come over this evening. Praise God, isn't life fun! :)

And, oh, by the way, we are also babysitting a green parrot for a neighbor friend of ours. What a hoot that is! If we walk out of the room he says "Come here." We're trying to teach him how to say "praise the Lord." If we walk out of the room he will sqwak litke crazy! Yvonne will put the towel over his cage and you hear this little voice say "oh oh." Then, as we walk away he'll say in a tiny voice "Heeelp. Heeelp." Then he quiets right down.

I was wondering the same thing...my son hasn't gotten his written ones yet either. He is going to have two c schools before reporting to the ship I think. I'll send you a private message with his name...

So glad to hear from someone else going thru this...We live in Virginia about 3 hrs from Norfolk and I have a daughter, granddaughter there...my son-in-law is also in the Navy stationed in Norfolk on the USS Hawes. He's on deployment now.
