When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Not much contact at boot camp and it takes forever for him to get my letters because they read them first.
Life does get better for them.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:

Howdy - It is time to get this get together together!!!

We need to start getting numbers so we can reserve rooms, get discounts, etc.
At this point in time our plans are as follows:
Friday, June 27 Meet at hotel: Hilton Houston Hobby Airport
(Hilton Houston Hobby Airport: http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/HOUHAHF-Hilton-Houston-Hobby-Airport-Texas/index.do) (convenient for anyone flying into Houston) free shuttle to hotel $96/night if you book on Expedia.com, $95.20 if you prepay in full with hotel. Coyote has a call in to see if we can get a better rate as a small group.
Off to dinner either in Kemah (Kemah: http://www.kemahboardwalk.com). It's about a 20 minute drive from hotel. (I am talking to Landry’s and the Aquarium) or in Houston near the hotel. We will probably start gathering around 6:00. There are all kinds of things to do (rides, shopping, etc.) in Kemah with a family, if you choose to go earlier.
There are fireworks Friday evening at 9:30 in Kemah.

Spend in the night in Houston (close to Kemah and Galveston - but cheaper).
Saturday, June 28 - convoy it over to Galveston and spend the day at Moody Gardens (it is not just flowers - see the website: http://www.moodygardens.com). There is lots to do there, you can buy a day pass for $44.95 or just pay for the things you want to do with individual event tickets. (Range in prices, so go to their website.)

I will probably go home Saturday evening - but if you choose to stay, there is a lot to do in the area - we could help you make a mini vacation of it.

Please let me know on the blog on my page if you plan on attending. Please be specific (i.e. Galveston only or don’t need hotel or Kemah only) if you are only attending parts of it. We need to know numbers so we can get some group rates!!!

SOOOOO looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible - I know we will have a great time - We all have something in common (and I know I could talk for hours about it) - OUR SAILORS!!!!

Here are the websites again: (thanks, Coyote!!!)

Hello Texas Mom (and Texas Mom’s wanna be’s) -
I am going to start the planning stages of having a get together for all who can attend. It would really be fun to meet one another!!
I want as many as possible to attend. Therefore, I want to try to get the best time and city. Please go to my page to reply to the comment with the answers to the following questions.
(1) Location - I will get back later today with a run down of how many from each city. You could reply to this such as, “I live in Houston - but am willing to go to Austin” etc.
(2) Time - Weekend or weekday? - May, June or July? - please list specific times that you cannot attend - for example my family reunion is the 20, 21, and 22 of June.
(3) Ideas - especially if you live in one of the central cities (Houston or Austin). Do we just want a dinner together one long evening - attend an event - I would love to be able to participate in a parade on Memorial day together somewhere!!! HELP!!!! I really think just spending one long evening in a restaurant is fine and then we could go from there!!
(4) Any other suggestions - please list ideas!!!!
Just go to my page - “Brenda Bourque” and comment back - I am putting this in a blog on my page - Please comment back to the blog!!!!
Thanks, Brenda Bourque - Proud Mom of Derek who is heading to Guam - and all plans will be cancelled when he comes in!!!!

I am down in Nederland, near Beaumont in Southeast Texas. We have some from all over the state. I am going to sum it all up for everyone one day soon.

Thank you it's here. And it will be for you too soo, it goes by fast but slow all at the same time. Writing letters is so important to them. This website is so great because it's other Mom's going thru the same thing, whether it's been there or just begining.
I wish the best for your son and I will keep him in my prayers. My son said he found the power of prayer again, I was touched by that, it gave him strength.

Let me know how your son does.

Parish is 23 and I couldn't be prouder of him.
He is going ot A school to be an aircraft mechanic.
Not sure which school he will be in yet. With what everyone say's I am hoping it will be in Great Lake's so I can spend the weekend with him.
I am there thru Monday, I know I can sight see, but I would so rather see my son.

I was told that by another Navy guy that used to be in whatever part of the Navy that does that, but I don't know him very well so I can say whether he would lie or not about it.
I do know it takes them a very long time to get the letters 7-10 day's that's a longtime.

So how many do you have in the Navy?
I so can't wait to leave and be there for him..
