I do understand it's extremly difficult to not be able to talk to them and hear their voice, just so we know that they are ok. I found the DIV 171 group last night and I want you to join with me. It's acutally listed as DIV 166-173, if you can't find it in the groups. Go to my page and you will see it on the left. All of these Mom's are going through the same feelings we are and all of our sons/daughters are graduating the same day. You're right it is hard for your son to understand what a Mother goes through. We'll just take it day by day. :)

I just got a the form letter today from my son, and he's also on DIV 171 USS HOPPER. I sent all of the letters to him I've all ready written. I put SR first for Seaman Recruit then his last name. I'm so excited to find someone else in the same DIV.

I had to go through the holidays without my only son. Was it hard? yes. Did I get through it? yes. How? much prayer and support from my navy family. I can assure you that if you pray and surrender your worries, fears, and concerns to God he can help you endure. The time will go by quickly. Be in peace knowing that you know where he is and he is safe. Cast all your cares (God) on him for he cares for you. Believe me I know you are going to have your moments you may hear a song that reminds you of him, you might go hang out in his room just to get a feel for him, you may even call some of his friends to get some kind of connection those are things that I did. It is o.k. to feel that way but when he is done he will be a much better person. All things work together for the good of those that love the Lord. He is going to be fine. My son is in A school in PCola, Fl. studying to be an Information Technologists he is so responsible now he pays bills, he goes to school and work and he keeps his room clean. So the Navy did for him in 2months that I have been trying to do for 18yrs. so I am happy. Be encouraged my sister it will be o.k just you waitand see you will be so proud of him. I visit N.O. every Sat. we may have to get together one day. Be strong everything is going to work out. Be Blessed.

Vonnie W (proud of my son) said… - Hi Alice, my name is vonnie. my son went to GL on 2/24 and the box is still sitting in my kitchen and not unpacked. We got it on Monday, but my daughter had checked the mail to see if anything was there, the form letter. we had just came from the recruiter to get his address, then I turned around and there was the box. To me is was icky, because years ago we took our dog who died to the vet and what came back in the mail was his ashes. OUR KIDS ARE ALIVE, but what s what it felt like to me. My daughter opened it and ran to grab our camcorder to watch a piece of her and her brother at meps, him telling her he loved her. She needed to see if he was still alive. She had been able to watch the video before this and has not since. Glad I had it. Moms are right it gets alittle better and then you might have a rough moment. BUt these moms are great. I have 3 boys, oldest is at BC. My son at home doesn't get it either and my other son lives in Rochester MN so he says mom it was his decision, I know but they have our hearts. Hang in there, moms are right write,write. One mom suggested put in a comic or news article as they do not know what goes on out here.

I saw your comments on boot camp moms and I wanted to let you know that all of us moms have felt the same. Those first days and nights are really hard. I did not think I would make it. I cried over everything. But coming to this site and talking to other moms will help you. It will make you feel connected to your son. In about a week you will get a form letter and he will write a few lines at the bottom. His address will be on there. Write him as much as possible they live for letter time. His division number will be in his address. When you find that out come on this site and start looking for other moms in his division. As the weeks go on you moms can share letter and phone call information together. You will find that it helps a lot to talk to moms who have sons in the same room as yours. I also found that praying alot really helps. Everytime I thought about my son I would pray for him. We cant be with them right now but God is and God can take care of them better than we ever could. My son graduates next week. I made it and so can you. Hang in there and be strong for your son. The next few weeks will be just as hard for him so your letters will have to be encouraging not discouraging. I will pray for you and your son. I will pray that God will comfort you. God loves you and your son. We all love you here. Just ask and we will help you.

I am the mother of 4Proud AA sons. Raymond 27 the truck driver, James 25 the Chief, Gregory 21 going to school for to be an architect and Almicahel 20 my musician (French Horn, Trumpet, Keyboard, Computer, Jazz, Gospel, and Classical Music. - Was concerned or afraid, Was confused, Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Was relieved, Encouraged him/her, Said “No way!”
- From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
- The most important thing that I learned was there mom like myself that could and would help you get through this time. I do not know them personally but I love them as a good friend of mine because they understand. They are not like some people that do not understand why you are crying and fussing at you. They said everything in Love.
- Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
- Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made
