Okay....it's not thaaat hard to go see him. I would get a rental car, b/c having to pay for a taxi to go everywhere is going to end up being more than renting a car for a couple days. Also you can go to whatever hotel, if you want to avoid the hassl…

Oh and as for picking her up, just park in the visitor center parking lot, next to the main gate and have them meet you there in the morning at a certain time. And she should be able to already have a phone and electronics.

JulieR she may have duty on one of those days. Duty is on a four day rotation, so find out which day is her duty day and the other days (thurs-sun) she should have liberty, but every day she will probably have to sign out with 2 liberties buddies, a…

Oh and another thing that sold me, was Forrest Pointe has a washer and dryer in every unit, so you don't have to pay and go through the hassle of taking your clothes somewhere to go get washed. It's great.

I live in Forrest Pointe Apartments they are very nice and one of the closest apartments to the base. (About 7 minutes away) My BAH covers rent, electricity, water, and heat! Plus I have a little left over. I was really nervous to move up here to bu…

Dansmom, try to guide her towards NROTC, she'll be in college and it will be no big deal. She'll be able to be home on Thanksgiving and Xmas, and during the summer, and spring break, yea she'll have some training here and there but there's not much…

My husband has a friend that his family only had to wait 6 weeks because they needed a 3 bedroom, and they seem to have more of those available. I live off base in a one bedroom apartment so I do save BAH, but if you need a bigger apartment, you may…

I don't think it is bad at all. I moved to the Great Lakes a little early, but next week my husband will be living off base with me. And he will be home every night except for his duty days. Honestly the hardest part for me was boot camp. But that d…

Oh we're from San Antonio, TX! =) It took me about 2 months after he graduated before we got moved up here. but it was because of the base closing for Christmas so it took alittle longer. His school took his 8 months to finish. It takes long because he has to go to INDOC, SCC, ATT, then A-school. He just graduated in the end of August!! I think his C-school in FL is gonna be 4 months and then he has more school in Virginia!! So LOTS of school! but we wont be able to move with him to FL because his schools not long enough.. So we're gonna have our belongings moved to VA to be put in storage and im gonna go back home for a few months.. Phew! Hope that all makes sense! LOL

Hey Amanda! Thanks for adding me as a friend! My hubby will be doing Battlestations tonight and PIR friday! I have to tell him to make sure he fills out his living ashore paperwork and goes to class for briefing of military moves. Didn't know they had to do that, but whatever. I hope to be moving there in November. I'd love to live in Forest Pointe. It seems as though that's the best one I've seen so far as far as apartments go. Hopefully this Saturday I can get all the paperwork and fax it over when I'm ready. I'm so excited! We may be living in the same apartment complex! I really do want to make lasting friendships while in GL.

Hubby loved it and I think son will too but he just reported to his first ship and generally they don't let you touch anything in the early days but C school was challenging and that was important to him. It took our son 18 months to finish both schools. A school is in GL and for him he took 8 months to complete and then he went to Aegis school in Dalgren and was there another eight months. He probably will love Hawaii but in their early days on the ship, they have to complete all their qualifications and so he really hasn't had TOO much time yet to see it but he has managed to call a few times from the...beach!!!
