You two have been together for a while so you are used to doing things together. Now you don't have him there to help with things or even being you sounding board. You learn to do things on your own that you are used to doing together. It will be ha…

Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Patience...
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

My husband is gone,
I knew it would come,
Left for bootcamp,
All I was left with is love.

My best friend and hero,
The Love of my life,
I know it will be hard times,
Being his wife.

I pray for his safety,
comfort and care,
let him know that I love him,
when into that letter he tears.

I can't wait to be with him,
To show him my pride,
On the day we honor,
This new step in life.

To see him in that uniform,
Will make tears run down my face,
For not only is he my comfort,
He is my saving grace.

He has worked so hard for the moment,
I'll try not to get upset,
On that day he'll understand,
And my tears he will get.

For every other person,
With someone this feeling they share,
Know that there are others,
Who also know and they care.

Hi Amanda! All is good. We finally got the engine replaced in Jeremy's truck and got it back to him. He is loving it there. He just received a NAM on Friday - YOOHOO! I'm so proud. We are coming down next weekend. We will only be there for the weekend, but at least we'll get to see him. I am planning on making another trip soon. Hope all is well with you and the "little one". Thanks for checking on me.

Hi Amanda, My son is an air traffic controller and is not on a ship. He is married to Amber and they have a 20 mos old son as well as a newborn son born 7/10. Have you gotten adjusted to living there in Mayport? My DIL says it is lonely. Everyone really keeps to themselves within the housing complex. Its a shame really b/c they all have so much in common. We are actually leaving tomorrow for Mayport and will be there until Sunday. Are you working anywhere?

Gotta run ... write back if you want.

let me change one thing... the college classes are not free, but there are people at the college facilities on base that can help you find low or no interest loans as well as scholarships.

Hi Amanda, just read your 'About me' section after seeing you in one of the groups discussing Boatswains mates. My huband Jon is also a Boatswains mate. He's got almost 14 years in with the Navy and I'm sad to say that the disorganization that you're experiencing now will not likely lessen over the years, however, you will find ways to cope and create your own organization in the midst of all the change. Though my husband's been in so long, I'm new to this also (2 1/2 years), but I can say that it's gotten alot easier over the last year or so, once I started really focusing on learning my resources and really getting online for just about everything (especially bill payments). The other thing to remember is that as a spouse, you will have alot of resources that are there to really make sure things can work out for you guys, the biggest key is using them. They are all free and range from financial classes, individual financial counceling, legal advice, family readiness groups, scholarship programs, college classes, local base gym access, medical care, relocation assistance, the list goes on and on. If you don't know where to start, just get ahold of the Fleet and Family Support Center, they can direct you to the places you need to go for whatever you're looking for.

You and your husband are set to make a lot of sacrifices and there will be some really tough times, but there is help and there is hope. Thank you both for taking on this life and supporting our country. Your sacrifices are not unseen.

Hi Amanda,
Thanks for accepting the invite. After you responded to my question last night on "Ask the SDC" I guess I was thinking that your husband or friends were in the AS Rate. Looks like lots of people are in P-cola for A school. I was told by someone in the BC moms that he might be in GL waiting to ship to P-cola for maybe 6 weeks. He told me on the phone last Tues. that his PIR was 3/20 and that he was leaving for P-cola on 3/25-Wed. which is not that long. Maybe it won't be as long as we think. Anywho, It looks like a great place to wait. Nice and Warm. Alot like home - we are from Corpus Christi, Texas. I am very proud of my son! This was a decision that he thought about all thru H.S. Thanks again, Good Luck to you and your Hubby. You look like such a sweet couple!!!! Tanks again, Take Care Patty
