My second son joined the navy at the age of 29. He ran every day and did other exercises. He also stopped smoking. He was in better shape then most of the "kids" that had just got out of high school. He out ran them and had no problem out doing them…

About me:
Very proud mom of a Navy Chief and mom in law of a Navy lady!
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
There are good things and bad things in everything. Most of my experiences with the Navy have been good. But with three kids in the Navy, at one time, there is bound to be some negative things too. My 2nd son didn't have such a great experience, but I will say that being in the Navy was the most positive thing in his life to that point!! He is back in civilian life now and married to a wonderful Navy girl! My oldest is in until they make him retire!! And my daughter in law will be too. I am very proud of all three of them.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

To Christian Mothers

My only son came home today
dressed in garments strangely new;
A stately uniform he wore
of deepest navy blue.

And as I looked into his face,
Standing strong and manly there,
A shadow seemed to creep around
And clutch my heart with fear.

My mind went back to happy days
Of twenty years or more
When, as a little boy he played
Around the cottage door.

Was this the boy for whom we'd prayed,
The gift that God had sent?
Was war to claim him as its own
With evil dead intent?

No power have I to hold… Continue

Hey Angie! Welcome. Couldn't find your post on the TX site, so came here. You'll find lots of support and help here. It's neat. In May Navy4Moms is supposed to be coming to Dallas for some neat stuff. My son wanted to go to Pearl, but got carrier out of Bremerton instead -- BIG difference!

Hi, Welcome to Navy for Mom’s. You will find lots of support, advice, information, and friends here!! All you have to do is read, read, read!!

I would like to invite you to join the group of moms from Texas!! We are the largest state group on this site!! (Everything is bigger in Texas - including Navy Moms)!! We reached 500 members on February 12, 2009. We were one year old on March 8, 2009!!!

Just go to the groups tab and type in Texas in the search box. The icon of the group is the state of Texas, of course!! If you can’t find that, click on my picture to the left and it will take you to my page. You can find the same icon there. Just click on it and you can join us!!

Please leave a short message about where you live and what your sailor is doing. Also, please let us know how you found Navy for Moms.

My sailor son, Derek, is a MA (Master at Arms) - He is now stationed in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Thanks for every ones kind comments. I found that poem in some of my mothers things. I lost her to cancer will be two years in Nov. I just found it yesterday and thought it fit so well. My son going to Iraq and being on the sand has hit me hard. I'm not dealing with it very well and I have to keep remembering that he isn't mine anyway.... he belongs to God.
