Not sure about the others but it is typical for me. My son rarely emails or calls when they are ashore.

Haven't heard from my son since the 22nd when he emailed last. Did say a couple JO's were going to get a hotel and stay ashore a few days. Plus, looking forward to playing a soccer match with the Royal Malayasian soccer team and hoping to catch th...

I have heard nothing from mine, that usually means that they are a shore and having a good time. I am glad they have this wonderful opportunity to see the world :)

Well I got a call last night but the quality was so bad we were only catching about every other word or so! It was really disappointing so we didn't stay on long. But I did get that he was at a resort laying on a beach somewhere and the weather wa...

Nothing from mine yet, either. If he gets to sleep a full 8 to 10 hours in a bed bigger than a bunk, he's going to do that first because the last time we heard from him on e-mail, he had been up almost 24 hours.

Hi Anita,
Well maybe here I will not be so fumble fingers and have the room to place the entire letter from Shark. Here is the thrid try at it - fingers crossed pleased.
Happy Birthday Keirth
Surprise!
Hi Keirth.
My name is Shark. And you can see from my picture I am a turtle. You Mother sent out a message on the NavyMoms.com site - about you being out to sea for you birthday. And how she would just love it if other Navy Moms adn Dads would send you a message to wish you a wonderful birthday. She really must love you a lot to ask others to do this :)
A little information about me. I am a Southeastern Box Turtle - I am 25 years old and I have my owners trained very well. I have my own area in teh living room and I can see the TY clearly from my spot. I enjoy music from teh Big Bands era and love John Wayne movies - especially the fight scenes. My favorite food - huge Dark Red Bing Cherries. I also like to be cuddled at night time and relax and lsten to all the gossip of my owners. Now my female owner - i call her Mom :) - has let me read the messags on teh Japan Moms and Dads site too. Now there is gossip!
Always all this talk/bragging about their sailors - what theri sailorss are up too - what can they send to their sailors - sailors being home sick (really I think it is the Moms adn Dads who are homesick for theri sailors) and crazy things their sailors have done and tehy talk about food. Those Moms and Dads are alwyas talking about different recipes andhow not to blow up the turkey inthe oven ( My Mom did that! We don't let her cook a turkey any more.)
I have a sailor too. He is onteh USS Patriot and it is stationed in Sasebo , Japan. His name is ------- ----------. I really miss my buddy too. Maybe someday you two mgith meet up. Then you both can have a col beer adn talk about our silly mothers and what all they gossip about. And food too - if you like.
Well, I need to get off thsi key board. It's hard trying to press the right keys. But I wante dyou to feel special and wish you a Happy Birthday.
Hugs: Shark
PS. I like getting post cards in teh mail!
Now this letter was printed out on birthday stationary with matching envelope - with stickers of a cold glass of beer on it. I didn't put out my son's name - give you that in priviate. Hope you like this and that he does too. take care TLynn

I'd be happy to send your son a birthday card. My daughter Katie is a DC on the USS Essex.

Hi Anita - thanks for warm welcome. john called me this a.m. to tell me he had a 2-hour layover in Alaska. He was treated really well by USO in Seattle - enough that light bulb went off in my head that that would be a good volunteer vehicle for me here in Atlanta to honor my son's service. so - based on what you said - I guess John will be able to connect w/ GW in a couple of weeks. I am just sooooo proud of my son and so excited about all the adventures, travel, and education he will receive. Do you have any plans to go to Japan to visit? kat.

Hi Anita, my son will be going to Saesbo Japan next month. He is assigned to the USS Tortuga. I was wondering what kind of calling cards do you send your son and if he has a cell phone? Any other things I should know before he leaves next month will be really helpful. Thanks so much.
