E-4,5,6 Advancement

Well, after waiting a good part of the month to hear from the September Advancement test results, the Navy finally released a statement that although the results are usually out between mid November and mid December, this year they should be out the week after Thanksgiving.
Hurry up and wait some more.

Hi Barbara Jane! It's been awhile since we chatted. I was wondering if your son has made it out of Ballston Spa :))?! Mine is in Guam now on a sub. I know you said your son had that as his first choice. Is he there as well? It would be great if the two of them could connect. They could work side by side every day unbeknownst to us! Hope all is well with you and your sailor and your holidays are happy. Take care...Sharon

Hi Barbara. Great news about Frank. Hannah finally ruled against doing the star enlistment. Had planned on it for quite a while. But as much as she loves the Navy, she wants to do other things also. And her knee is still an issue. No surgery yet. Not sure what/when something will be done about it.
I don't think she'll know about Christmas til just beforehand. Which is no fun for us, waiting. But it's the normal way for the military, so we deal.
The engagement break is a good thing. They really didn't know each other that well. She's now dating someone she's known for a couple years. We will see how that goes. He's also from my state, so that's even better!

Hello! How's Frank doing nowadays? What's SPU? Is he teaching at proto? Coolness!

Hi Barbara, I haven't been on here in weeks. Started a new job beginning of Sept. and have had little free time since. Hannah finally had an MRI on her knee last week. Still lots of pain. Fortunately, no torn cartilage, but some other issue that may be easily addressed. She'll know more this week, I think. Congrats to your son re: ELT! Hope the medical goes quickly and he's back to full speed soon.

BarbaraJane, i was reading your comment and i think im confused about MMs going to another school after prototype. My son Stevahn is a MM and starting prototype are you saying he has to do further training after or does he go to a sub? thanks for the info ruth

My brother was an MM going through ELT in the early 70's before he went to OCS. He did his training in Idaho Falls back then.
My son is an ET. (My dad was a Percision Measurement Electronics Lab tech in the Air Force and an ET for Johnson Space Communications as his last civilian job.) So my son is a Nuke like his uncle and an ET like his grandfather.
In this day and time, aren't ELT's an elite group with more chance of job retention?

Thank you for the information. My son said his class has already been told they were going to be on hold after graduation. That he is going to try to take a couple classes while they are on hold. I have one of the Fosters Villas reserved so he can stay with us after graduation if need be. (Things change at the drop of a hat. so have to be prepared for whatever may come up.) What vessel is your son going to?
