When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I'm just to new to this yet to have learned anything.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:

Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings

Barbara, hope you are doing well today. I'm far from knowledgeable about a lot of stuff with the Navy but please feel free to come to me with concerns or thoughts or just needing a shoulder! I can help you search for the answer! Keep your head up and I hope you get a letter soon.

Hi Barbara~
The hardest part is not knowing. My son has been at GL for just about 5 weeks and he still misses home. The fact that she is homesick says a lot about you and the job that you've done as a Mother . Good job, Mom! :)

Here are a couple of videos that will help you to understand a little more what she is doing and going thru (these will take you from the time she is dropped off by bus at Great Lakes until graduation (PIR) from boot camp:

Hi Barbara, my son also left on the 17th, you should be getting a real letter from your daughter very soon if you haven't already. My son is also in the USS Triton but Division 103. From what I know many of our kids are homesick the first 2 or 3 weeks but they will get better. Hang in there, she'll be OK. The Navy takes good care of our recruits. Did she call when she got there or after?

Hang in there sweetie, we are all here for each other and we are all in the same emotional boat together. My Megan also joined the Navy against her father's wishes. She wanted to see the world and be independent as soon as possible. I admire her courage. She has more kudspa than I did at her age. Her dad was angry at me for a long time when I first drove her to MEPS. She was in the delayed entry program for 5 months. I just kept praying for her father to understand. He finally came around and asked her if this is what she really wanted to to do. She has wanted to join the Navy since she was in Junior High school. All you can do is leave them in God's hands and pray for them every day.
