Thanks Cheryl, for all of Stephen's 18 years, he has matured so much. My boy is a man and I'm so proud of him.

Janie, I will also pray for Stephen. My son-in-law, Luke in the Air Force was over there from Feb-June this year. He came home safe, but things weren't quite as bad for him. Always praying for our troops and keeping the faith.

Hi Becky: Happy to hear your sailor will be home for the holidays. That's a great Christmas present. Stephen received new orders on Thursday, and after 3 months he will be deployed to Afghanistan. Please keep him and all our men and women in uniform…

Hi Beth, not sure if the message you left on my page was meant for me. I don't really understand about the shirt you spoke of. I am also not from Iowa. I live in Wisconsin.

Beth~ I would love to get together for coffee in Wausau. I will check my schedule and let you know when I can meet. My son is out for Adopt a Sailor on Christmas and then his PIR is 01/09/09 so my days off have been working around those 2 events. Have a great day. Jaci

Hi Beth - I am only an hour out of Great Lakes and I enjoy the drive down there. What does your son do for the Navy? Mine went in as a Bosuns Mate but hasn't acted in that position yet.

Thank you Beth! Yes it is the hard time of the year. My son told me just a week ago that he wasn't going to be able to come home. I think I may try and "adopt" another sailor for Christmas. I brought someone home to join our Thanksgiving celebration two days ago and had a wonderful time.

Hi Beth;
Welcome to our group. My son Jamie is a DC(firefighter) on the USS Carter Hall. He is deployed for the third time now and should be home sometime the end of March or begining of April. Jamie wants to become a Wisconsin State Trooper. I have been lucky to have worked with people who have either been in the Navy before or who husbands had been in. So I had lots of support and people to ask questions to. But this site is really wonderfull, lets all of us exchange information, support and worries to others who really understand what is going on right now. Look forward to talking more with you.
