Melissa, Thanks for the prayers! Dan signed up for Field Medic. Since the Marines use Navy Medics they have to train with them as well so they know what to do on the battle field- not just the medical stuff- it just seems so... I don't know ... I kn…

Hi Bina:
Yes it would have been terrific if the Cardinals had won, but at least they won their division!
Today I'm starting a "Tucson Moms" group and I'd love to have you join.
I'll send you an invite later today....

Navy seeks new recruits via Moms
Arizona Daily Star
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 10.11.2008
In an effort to attract new recruits, the U.S. Navy has launched a Web-based campaign aimed specifically at mothers — an idea so innovative experts predict it will one day be copied by other branches of the military.
About a dozen Tucson moms are in on the ground floor of the new Navy effort, NavyforMoms.com — a sort of Myspace for military matriarchs.
The site was launched in response to research that showed mothers were more likely to believe other mothers than recruiters, a Navy official said.
Read about the new recruiting campaign in Sunday's Arizona Daily Star.

Hi Bina,

I have not heard from Nancy as well. I hope everything is ok. Glad to hear that you received Dan's address. Where is he going to A school? My Mom, Sister, Daughter, and I will be going over to see Frank this weekend. I was not able to get my pictures up this weekend but hoping to work on them on Wed night.

Tell Matt that we said "Happy Birthday". I know he can not wait to hear from Dan.

Hi Bina,

I had some of the same problems with my photos as well. I'm hoping to get them up on the website this weekend.

How is Dan doing? Frank is doing well and he has two roommates. One has been in A school for a couple of weeks and the other has been waiting to start A school for a couple of weeks. He has not started yet but has jobs their at the base to do.

He and a couple of the guys went to the beach, it is within walking distance from the base. He sounds happy and calls almost daily. He has liberty this weekend and my husband and father in-law will be going over to visit him. It is about a 5 to 6 hour drive from our house. My daughter and I will be staying home with the dog instead of putting him in the kennel. I called my mom to see about going the weekend of the August 8th to visit with him. He told me that he has liberty every weekend. Can't wait to see him.

Thanks for all the useful tips. I talked with Josh saturday and he said that is honors but that they had him mixed with another kid with the same last name so we are not going to get the special seating etc for graduation. I just want him to get his recognition I really don't care about sitting in different seats. He said he has had a cold since he got there. He also told me that he actually looks forward to PT. When he left home I was lucky to get him off the couch for dinner and now he loves running. I can't wait for PIR - it is only 3 weeks away.

Donna,
It was wonderful! and emottional. Make sure you have plenty of space/film on your camera. But don't take any pictures outside once you pass the hospital- I did before we got in the gate and had to delete them opps. once you leave the hall just put it away so you don't forget. And don't expect Josh to be very affetionate at first- no PDA ( public displays of affection) they must have "military bearing" at all times. They haven't had much contact with women and children and it is like shell shock. It wasn't until the second day that Dan acted "normal" towards me.
Take a camera for his use, but he can't keep it yet. I had bought one for Dan and then didn't take it because I didn't think he could use it. They can use them just not keep them when you leave- not until they get settled at A School. And then it just depends. You will probly get a call from him sometime the week before the graduation. Iwas glad I read about taking a "Tide" pen! Dan was too! we did use it a lot!
He was very careful to not get dirty- sat on his raincoat ate carefully ect... pretty amazing how he is now so particular, still things happen so make sure you take some.
Another thing is have some snack food in the car, Dan notice some we had and started munching right away - after he asked for some Purell that he knows I always carry ( funny he never asked before!)- so I bought more and had them available every time he was with us- besides the meals and snacks we bought- they are always hungry- he lost weight and some muscle mass.
Yes, our boys have changed- they not only know how to fold clothes they are more particular, neat, and disiplined.

Hi Bina,
Just wanted to check in and see how graduation was for Dan - Josh is scheduled to graduate in August and I can't wait.
Finally have started receiving letters from him and he sounds good. He is the section leader in his division (hope this is good) and he told me he can make his bed and fold his own clother - about time.

Frieda,
Thanks for the heads up! I don't know if I will do that or not it is close to me, but I am having some pretty magor health issues right now....guess I will ask the Doctor if he thinks it would be okay for me to do a part of it....we will see. No letter from Dan this week :( I guess the training this week was pretty tough- and next week is firefighting and damage control- may not be much better. I did count we have gotten 6 letters so far. Guess I should be happy some have gotten less.

Hi Bina, look down below on your page where the events are posted and you will see at the very bottom of the page it says " Catalina State Park Trail and Run" just north of Tucson, sounds like it is pretty close to you.
