It all depends on their A school. I just found out today that my husband's A school will be 20 weeks, instead of the 15 that we were originally told, because he has a special classification or something. He'll also be staying at GL for A school as a…

About me:
I've been married to an amazing, strong-willed man for almost three years. We have a one-year-old son and currently live in Pennsylvania. My husband enlisted in the Navy in May 2009 and left for boot camp on November 10, 2009. He will graduate on January 15, 2010 and then stay at Great Lakes for Corpsman A-school. I work full-time for a large insurance company, but am a home-based worker. So, my office is in the Chicago area (down the street from Great Lakes), but I work on a daily basis from my bedroom in PA.

Hi thanks for commenting and friending me. Another PAer. And he is going for Corpsmen as well? That is awesome! My friend is supposed to be grad'n'go. Is your husband as well? I cannot wait for PIR! I am going to go ahead and book my flight tomorrow I think as I am nervous about a price jump, however I am also nervous because I am unsure of the liberty! I wish you good letters and phone calls! We are definitely on the downhill side!

Lol...i'll never understand the Navy! J is trained as an EMT, but they said corpsman was full. So he thought seals, but couldn't quite pass the pst. He learned to swim 2 months before signing onto rescue swimmer...lol his first score was 25 min.!! He needed under 12! He's at 10 now though. Oh, well if they wanna pay extra to train someone. Is ur hubby doing fmf, that's what J wanted...of course the most dangerous! Hope ur enjoying the snow we're getting now ;) PIR is coming soon...so excited! Have fun keeping ur son out of the snow...at that age its all new for him! -Sarah

Jennifer-

Truthfully, I think the loss of stepmom's father is the least of his worries right now. He's not very close with his stepmom. He definitely saw the silver lining in getting a call home. I did get the call on Friday too. Needless to say, it was amazing talking to him. I'm sure you feel the same way. Only 40 days until January 15th! It's going to be so strange not spending the holidays with our men. You're pictures are adorable as well. You're son is so cute!

Hey Jennifer-
I'm doing okay...my boyfriend's stepmom's dad died so he got to call home. I got about 40 minutes on the phone with him before he actually called his parents. It was so amazing to talk to him and he said that he thinks a phone call is scheduled for his whole division this Friday between 3 and 4, so hopefully I'll get to hear from him again. I've gotten about 8 letters which exceeded my expectations so I'm pretty happy. I just keep reminding myself that it's only temporary and the hardest part will be over before I know it. How are you holding up?

Hi Jennifer,
I'm not sure about the photo thing yet or the wedding. My future daughter in law says they just want to go to the court house and do something nice with more family later on. Thanks for offering to help. I'll let you know if she wants photos but as the the moment nothing is firm. I'm still have to google the court and map qwest the map. Is it close to the base?
Also, my son injured his knee last week. He's on crutches and a brace for 3 weeks. His letter today said he was still on schedule for Jan 15th. I hope that happens.
He said that he's still doing everything but the running and didn't want to get behind.

Hi Jennifer! I got a letter yesterday too. My question is did your husband say anything about receiving your letters? I have written my boyfriend at least 15 letters and have been sending them since we found out the address, but he still said in his letter that he hasn't gotten any of them.
