yes, in NC they can only get a GED but in some states like Floriday they can receive a high school diploma - a lot of the cadets joined the national guard or Army, but my son really wants the Navy

KB- I have always been informed that 98% of the kids that complete these type of programs turn to the military? This just really throws me back in my seat. All the kids that go through these programs recieve GEDs correct?

Catalina that is what i have heard as well; however, i don't think it would hurt a bit to stay in contact with your recruiter - stop in once a week or so if possible and just ask. Things are moving slow due to high demand to stay in and or join the…

Hi, is it possible for me to ask some specific questions? I'm new to this site and am not sure how to send an email. Thanks.

Brady,

How may I find out if there are any events for Navy families in the West Palm Beach area, in Palm Beach County, South Florida?

My son is leaving to BC in a week. He joined the Navy in I think Sept or Oct. of last year...Well in between joining and now, him and his Fiance is expecting a child due in Sept. Not great timing for him but it is what it is. He did tell his recruiter in March or April about the child....Well the Recruiter told my son not to mention the baby to Meps next week cuz all the paperwork and stuff could delay him from going to boot camp? Is this true? How much paperwork could there be? And how long could it possibly take? I don't want him to keep it from them cuz the subject would have to eventually come up.... I don't want to think the recruiter is a bad guy or anything, actually I met him and he seemed like a nice Guy. Do you think my son should mention the upcoming child to MEPS? Will the Navy not let him go to BC now cuz of a child? Would it be easier to marry his Fiance now before he goes or after BC? ( he wanted to wait till after cuz he wanted to get married in his Uniform) See he's already proud about serving!!!! Can you please help me ASAP? Thank you Brady and Happy Memorial Day to you!.....Sue

good morning brady, i wasn't sure if you were still answering questions on this group, or maybe you just have a few days off?? anyway, i needed your input as a recruiter about a contract that pay grade was incorrectly inputed when my son signed his 1st contract. i don't want to expect more out of our recruiters here than they are actually capable of doing but since our son will probably be traveling on his own for his final swear in/contract i wanted to make sure it was taken care of. i left question in the discussion page. thanks.

Thanks for the response and like wise I apologize for getting back to you so late. We thought the problem was solved. My son's Yoeman starting working on it with him and they did get the recruiter to fax them the needed paper work. My son has been told that they have everything but he still has not received his pay increase or any back pay and it has been through two pay periods already. He graduates A-school next week and received orders for Camp Lejuene. What would be his next steps to getting all this settled?

I have two wonderful sons. My elder son has been proudly serving in the Navy since 2002. My younger son is 19 years old and would also like to enter the Navy. The problem is that my younger son has type 1 diabetes. He is insulin dependent. Even though his diabetes is well controlled, he cannot pass the physical for military service. Can you suggest a program that my younger son would qualify for? He has a lot to offer.
