My First "real" letter

I finaly got one today, I was so excited, I was grinning ear to ear.
He says he is doing fine but it kind of sucks! He really misses his family
and every time he thinks about us he wants to cry. He is having his
wisdom teeth out and another tooth fixed and his nose carterized,
he has always had bloody noses, i'm sure thats why.

He is making lots of friends, but his drill sargents are buttheads.
he passed his swim test, said it was real hard but kept on going.
he said they have a foot of snow.… Continue

Easter Sunday

This was our first weekend and first holiday with him gone.

It was a little strange, knowing that he was out there in GL

I wondered if they did anything in abservance of Easter.

I read on here some where that someones son had called

them on easter, and he said that they got to take

"Hollywood Showers" Long hot showers. I bet they all enjoyed that.

We did get on saturday a letter from the commander,

with a bunch of information and Andrews address, There was a 3

lined note on the back sayi… Continue

Something in the mail

Well it was'nt what I wanted, it was a brown box sitting on my

pourch when I got home, I thought it was a package from

ebay. Was I ever suprised when I opened it to find his dirty

clothes, pants rolled up to the knees & underwear in the pants!

His boots, socks and shirt. I was hoping there would be a note

him, but there was just his orders and his airline ticket.

It was a little strange getting that box, like he was dead and

they were sending his belonging back home. But I guess in a… Continue

We waited all day for his phone call, and ended up missing it

during the night. He left us a voice message, and he sounded

so tired, I wish I would have just stayed up until he called

But I did'nt. At least I knew that he had made it there in one

peice!

Boot Camp here he comes!!!

March 17th 2008

Well my oldest Andrew who is 20 years old left for boot camp today.

I don't know how all the other mothers make it through this, its so hard.

But I know this will make him grow up and give him direction in his life,

that he has been needing. I am very proud of him for what he is

doing, and cant wait for graduation.

Brenda, I was just looking around on the site and found you from Yelleville. I grew up in Lakeview and went to Mtn Home High School. My son just graduated from boot camp on 11-14. He is staying in Great Lakes for A school. He is going to be a Gunnersmate. How long has your son been active duty? I would love to talk.

Hi Brenda. I don't know if our son met your son, I'll ask him. Nate arrived at Port Hueneme June 14. It sounds like he's a month behind your son at Class A.

Q? If your son went in as a reservist, how did he find out that he was activated? Was he asigned or asked to go active? When will he be deployed? Will he have some time with his family before he leaves? Does he go by ship or air to the middle east? I will keep him in our prayers.

Write when you have the time. Hope you had a good 4th. Tam
