About me:
I am the proud mama to two beautiful, intelligent, talented daughters Gabrielle 18-Now a sailor! (Never when they handed me that beautiful pink bundle 18 years ago was Navy anywhere in my mind!!!- We are so proud!) &Hayley almost 16-full time-ballerina. They are my sunshine! I am married to an incredible man. He is my best friend and other half. I love him more than words can express. We have been married 20 years. My faith and my family are my strength and what keeps me going. I have been blessed with awesome friends. I am a very loyal person. I will forgive;forgetting may be a little harder for me especially if it involves my friends or family. I am also very stubborn & determined. I have no time for" on the surface-fake things/people"
I am so proud of my life. Most of my life is what I expected it would be; some of it ...not. I have had times of incredible happiness and times of incredible pain and sadness.
I've accomplished so much more than I ever thought I would and yet there are still many things/dreams to accomplish... I want to write a book, go to Tuscany... And now I can't wait to see how far and how high my girls will "fly"!
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Happy Sunday! Once your daughter gets to her A school, they have career counselors galore! She needs to talk to one of them about the "Seaman-to-Admiral" program and get going :-) Once she gets into power school, honestly there is so much studying and work she probably won't have time to do anything but that. However, once she is at a duty station, they have lots of online courses they can do to get their Bachelor's degree. What's she interested in? With a great GPA like that she can do whatever she wants!

Hi Brenda - My daughter, Tracy, already had her BS before she enlisted. She was told - mistakenly, we found out - that her GPA wasn't "high enough" to be an officer. She completed the nuke program and applied for OCS while she was there. The nuke program is unique in that it is a great channel for intelligent kids to get into an officer program - it's called "Seaman to Admiral". Once your daughter finishes boot camp and gets to Charleston for her "A" school, she will have a career counselor that can steer her in the right direction. If she doesn't feel she's ready for college, then going into the nuke program is a great alternative. It's hard work, but she should do fine --- nose-to-the-grindstone :-) Let me know if you have any specific questions; I'd be happy to answer

What I hear is that they are truly homesick the first two weeks not to scare you but my son's girlfriend is in bc now and he said that's is all she talked about at first but she good now. I know my son calls me everyday and we talk for hours he leaves in VA with my mom and I have relocated. It is a wonderful experience and a great career. Her little sister will probably find it hard at first but she will adapt to being an only child at home quick. I remember when my brother left for the Navy I was sick lol but like you said I began to develop my own independence and identity. I don't remember if I shared this info with you but there is book titled Honor Courage and Commitment by J F Leahy a great book tells all you need to know about bc. You should read it as well it has helped me to understand what my son will experience in bc.
