Awwww, thanks! That was Sandiego, when Josh started C School. My sons are only 13 months apart, and they lived in an apartment together their first three years after high school. Josh's enlistment was a very difficult separation for both of them!

About me:
Hello, I've been a Navy mom for 2 1/2 years now and I wish I'd known of this site earlier. It's great to see a place where parents can share knowledge and support one another!
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
This has been a wonderful opportunity for my son. He has matured, he has learned a trade and he is seeing so much of the world.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Brenda - I love this site, it is nice to know that when my sailor goes to a new home away from home, we can look up the area and meet new families. It's great to ask questions, especially when Danielle is heading over to Japan - lots of questions on our end and it's nice to get answers from experienced sailors and Navy Moms! Love the pic of the flags and anchors - I took a similar one at the Washington Monument in D.C. when we were there a few years back something about the red, white and blue and a beautiful blue sky!

Thank you all for the welcome! What a wonderful thing to have a place to talk with other Navy moms and share our experiences! I have to admit, it was a bleak day when Josh told me he was thinking of joining the Navy. Not the Navy in particular, just the armed forces in general. I cried, I tried to talk him out of it - what I didn't know was that he had already joined.
To those of you who are at that particular juncture right now, who are feeling the same way I was when Josh joined, I have to say, this is the best decision my son could have made. Now, we're 2 1/2 years into it and I have watched him mature and truly get a grip on what he wants out of life. I am so proud of him and I am so proud to be a Navy mom. By the way, he came by it honestly - he's not only a 'son of a son of a sailor,' but he's also a 'son of a daughter of a sailor.'
