Brian, congratulations on your new sailor! I'm so glad you got to talk to him before you left on your flight-that was great positive re-inforcement. Our flight leaves at 6:30am today. My husband and I probably got 1/2 hour sleep total-our daughters not much more than that. We were all too wound up to sleep. See you soon.

Laughed at your remark on Nuke page. Just remind your sailor NOT to pet the alligators and he will do fine!

Hi Brian, Saw your comments on nuke moms. Usually (Note I preface everything with usually) the recruits get their FINAL travel orders the Weds. before PIR. If it turns out David is grad and go, you can meet him at the airport. As long as he is with you, you can get a special security pass and go to the gate with him. Our son's flight was delayed twice due to thunderstorms, so we got to spend an additional 5 hrs. with him. You can bring him things at the airport (cell phone, Ipod, etc). Here's something kind of funny. During INDOC week, one of their classes is what to do if you see an alligator or snakes!!!!!!!!!! Pat

Brian, unfortunately I am not at liberty to give out any information regarding Battle Stations, be on this site or through the Public Affairs Office.

Brian - Welcome to N4Ms. I started poking around in this site months before our son Danny left for boot camp and I'm really glad I did. My wife wasn't that interested, but once Danny left she has enjoyed kind of keeping track of what's going on in his division and boot camp in general. Once you have his division number (will be on form letter you get within first week, or his recruiter can get it for you), do a search on "groups" for the division number or start one yourself. Also you'll end up with a group based on his/her PIR date also which will include parents from all the divisions (~10) that PIR/graduate the same date. So you got your safe arrival call....in a couple days you'll get your "box" - be ready for that. For me is was great just seeing Dan's writing on the box! Then the form letter that they can write a couple lines on bottom of....and eventually after about 2 weeks, you'll get your first letter. Honestly, the first day is the hardest - after that it starts to get easier. I was expecting my wife to be emotional, and she was. But I wasn't expecting to be as affected as I was by him leaving and not being able to talk to him. If you ever need anyone to talk to write us at vhobbes@gmail.com and for sure, join some of these groups and check in every day. You hear more and more as time goes on. Our son is half-way thru bootcamp already and we can't wait for PIR! God bless you and your son. Yuu should be proud of his decision to serve this country of ours. Glen H,
