Your daughter was sworn in when she entered the DEP and will be sworn in again the day she leaves. That is the morning after she spends the night in the hotel. Her recruiter will tell her what time she needs to be in. As for going to PIR (not RIP!) would her father go? There is no way I will miss that. Maybe you can plan to go to that in Great LAkes and miss the other one. The Great Lakes one is the most important.

I know that some kids don't want their parents around. Try and talk to her about your feelings but in the long run, honor hers. This is hard. If you ever want to talk 806-671-0224.

Hi! I forget to check for comments!! Sorry!! Yes, Pat will spend the night before at a local hotel... not a navy one but they put her up. We will be allowed to have dinner with him and he has to be back there by 10 PM.. Each recruiter is a little differnt and it also depends on how close the MEPS is. Ours is in Amarillo so he will just go there in the morning. We will be able to go to the official swearing in.

I bet we will be at the same PIR but probably differnt divisions!

Hey, thanks for writing. My son is only 20 miles away at boot camp. I should just count my blessings. Yes, the ex has a girlfriend who likes to complicate things. She's not really a drama queen. Her onlyh wish is that I didn't exist. I will definiately be at my sons graduation. His girlfriend will ride with me.

Keep taking the high road, it will absolutely pay off in the end. I think the kids see who is bending and who is not. Thanks for your post

It's PIR not RIP"))) I would book an early flight to Chicago esp if you plan on attending the meet & greet w/ the other parents. Most recruits appreciate just hanging out in the hotel room relaxing but there are those that want to go to the Mall, Chicago, Six Flags, movies, etc..No she won't be able to leave thebase on the Monday or Tuesday afterPIR.

Welcome to Navy for Moms. I found this site to be invaluable when it came to getting the information I needed. I joined before my son went into bootcamp and knew what to sort of expect. I am in the Washington and Oregon moms group and started the Pierce, King, Thurston county discussion there. Once your daughter has gone to BC you will find or even start a group for her PIR date (graduation). I cannot say enough how fantastic it was to attend that graduation. Please feel free to add me as a friend and ask as many questions as you want. We are all here to help, support, and listen when you need us.
