I really don't know much at all. He just officially received his orders today. Will leave to San Diego, Feb and then to Afganistan by March 15. As far as his job, no specifics. He is coming home for Christmas, so hopefully we will know more by then. I would like to know though if your son wished he had anything special while he was there. Since he will be home for Christmas, I am searching for ideas. He had earlier orders to Guantanamo and so I had all this beach stuff and those were changed so now I am not sure if there is anything he will really need or want. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks so much, I am sure I will have more questions as the time goes along.
Jody
Thanks for the reply, I can't wait to hear what all you have experienced over this year and all you know about this type of deployment.\

What did your son do there?
I read your post from almost a year ago now in January that your son was going to Afganistan on IA for 1 year. My son will be doing the same thing Feb. 2010. I would appreciate any advise, heads up --basically just anything you can offer.
Merry Christmas.
Jody
I will take Daisey there to walk around!
Thank you for sharing the pictures of Ryan with me. He hardly seems like the shy guy at the fort. I know that you are so proud of him..I am proud just to have met him..You and he are in my thoughts and heart..Take care ..Barbara
