Carli,

I suppose you might be gone already for Great Lakes but I just wanted to say Merry Christmas and enjoy your son's graduation and your time with him. We are very blessed to have Wesley home for Christmas. He leave the day after Christmas at 6:00 am. I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present. Take Care and hope your trip was memorable.

Hi Carli,
Sorry, I haven't been on much... been really busy. Since Wes has been at A School, I have been blessed with talking to him almost everyday. It seems like he is starting to call us between 9 & 10 his time to say good night. I was worried that he might not call that often. We called him on Thanksgiving which was hard for me, (first holiday away from home) but he seemed okay. Have you heard from Marcus since your last comment? I didn't get that many phone calls when Wes was in BC. I got a couple only because he needed to get information for his background clearance. I think only two were scheduled. Have you made any arrangements for graduation yet? It will be here before you know it. I am still waiting to find out if Wes will be home for Christmas. He should find out today or tomorrow he will get 7 days and will have to leave the day after Christmas. What rate is Marcus in? I leave very close to you. Just off of Linden & Summerfield. When you find out when Marcus has his battlestations, let me know. I will throw in a prayer for him & his division. Take care & Keep in touch.

Hi Carli,
Yes, I suspect I am over the worst of it. You will get there I promise. I remember thinking graduation would never get here, but it did. I remember Wes called (just about 4 weeks into BC and he sounded awful, caught a cold and he said unless you pass out they just give you cold packets to take and you keep going. He made it through. Marcus will too. It’s hard not being there for them though. Soak in as much as you can during grad weekend & dress warm. You will be amazed at the difference in your son. Now that I get to talk to Wes almost every day, it's much easier, but I still worry about him. Wes is in Virginia (clear across the country from home). He says he’s enjoying it. They actually start school today. We are sending him another package (a few civilian clothes and some cookies). By the time he gets it he should be able to wear his civilian clothes on the weekends for liberty. It is hard for me to know that he will be away from home for Thanksgiving for the first time ever, but it will be nice to have him home for Christmas or New Years. Yes I live in West Sacramento, where about do you live? Drop me a line any time. Keep the faith!

Hi Carli,
I live in W. Sacramento and my son graduated BC 11/7/08. I know exactly how you feel. It seem like I cried almost every day. It will get easier, I figured out that letters came about every Wed or Thurs and I was like a kid rushing to get home from work to see if we had a letter. The first one was very hard to read through the tears. But it was the best thing for my son. He wrote things to us that I never thought I would hear. He grew up so much in that 8 weeks and when you see him at graduation it will be like heaven. Hang in there. My son is now at A School and I still get teary-eyed and miss him, even though I have talked to him almost every day. I suggest, sending a phone card. It will help if he gets a chance to call (rewards in BC) and it should last him until you can send his cell phone to A School. What rate is he going into?
Hang in there!

Hi Carli;
My name is Marianne M., my son Fred left last thursday for boot camp. He left me some of his clothes to wash in the middle of his room. I can't bring myself to go into his room let alone do what little laundry he left for me. His box of things come in yesterday with his shoes and clothes he left in. I have them folded on the washer to do, but can't seem to bring myself to do them. I can still smell him on his shirt. I think I'll do better when he writes us. I sure can relate to how you are feeling.
Sincerely,
Marianne M. Salinas, CA

Carli,
You sound much better, so glad to hear you got a phone call. I'm dreading the day Kyle leaves. I know I'm going to be a mess that day and for many days afterwards. As the day for his leave gets closer, I find I get a mini emotional moments, par for the course I'm told. You hang in there :)

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time, I expect I'll be the same way come January. You might want to join the Boot Camp group, all of the women in that group have kids in Boot Camp, you'll find tons of support and encouragement. In the meantime know that we're all here for you.
