Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Thinking about joining
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
to trust my sons decision to enlist. To never doubt what my children can accomplish in their lives.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Carol, Just wanted to introduce myself, Kathy, from Dracut, thought we live so close to each other, maybe we could share stories? Hope all is well with your sailor!

Carol,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Take one day at a time. I'm glad Ryan can be there for you and his dad as well as the family.
Take care,
Sharon

I'm so glad that Ryan is home. You need a break and a big HUG from him and everyone for being so brave and taking care of everyone and everything that has been thrown at you. Now Ryan will get some quality time with his Dad and you and, I hope, memories he will cherish forever.

Much love to you all.

Carol, I'm surprised to hear about the Navy's decision. I don't know what their decision is based on. Yeah you should call the Red Cross. Let me know how it goes. Hugs and love to you and everyone. Carole

Jan's Dad has been gone for 13 years, since he was 12. It was very sudden and shocking. I'm glad you think he is an awesome and caring person. I think he is too!

I don't have any big plans right now because I'm not exactly sure when he will get here. I just know he is on the plane right now! YaY. I bought champagne and some special stuff to cook and celebrate with though. I'll call his best friend to come by too. Plus he has some school friends who want to see him. I think mostly just doing vacation type things is what he wants to do, especially if the weather stays as nice and warm as it has been. We are only a mile from the beach...and this IS Southern California. LOL! He probably wants to do all the stuff he took for granted when he was growing up here.

I'm sorry to hear that your daughter's BF died last month. I'm glad she got to hear from her though. That is so wonderful about your Dad being your youngest guardian angel. I'm glad you heard your parents are around. I'm sure that Jan's dad is one of his guardian angels as well as my dad.

Do I believe in mediums? YES! Actually, I'm pretty psychic myself :-). I could tell you some astounding things. So what did you hear, if I may ask? I'm really curious to find out.

As far as staying up late. I've noticed that Jan falls into bed right after a long day of 3 or 4 funerals. Then he wakes up at around 11 PM or midnight to get his cleaning and prep work done for the next day. Then he gets another hour or two of sleep and then it is up at 4 or 5 to start all over again. At least that is the way he has described it to me. I think the firing part at the funerals is the most exciting part. I remember it well from when my grandfather and father passed away. I remember the whole ceremony, but the guns and firing really added something special to it all and the kids really like it.

Hey don't worry about where you posted your comment. I've gotten my location mixed up before. It you want to delete it you can. But if you don't see that little X on the upper right-hand corner of your comment and want it deleted let me know cause I can delete it for you on the Ceremonial Guard Forum. Prayers will be made for your husband!

My mom's b-day was May 3rd, my brother May 17, my brother in-law May 18, my father May 23 (I think), my nephew May 24 and my grandfather May 27. Plus my sister's wedding anniversary is in May. It is a BIG month for my family. Also one of my sisters was born on Feb 13th so this year her b-day was on a Friday. She always loves it when that happens. LOL!
