Our Aaron is stationed on the Sub base in point loma. He is on the USS Hampton!
I live very close to Point Loma! Your sailors are very blessed to live in this beautiful place!! There is much to do here!! God Bless them as they are away from their families.

The gateway has a bedroom, tv room , bathroom and kitchenette. Very very clean. She is staying on this particular base because her sister is stationed right there.
not sure what the gateway is like. My daughter is checking in today. I will try to post on here tonite or tomorrow to let you know what it's like there. The navy Gateway Inn and Suite where she is staying in right on the Point Loma Base. I believe...

- I stayed on the one on Coronado. My husband is a reservist, but I made the reservations under Sara Jane's name because she was staying with me. I have a military ID to come and go on the base, but I don't know if they issue you a temporary one if you're staying there with a service member. You'll need one though, if you travel on and off base without your military family member...

- Hi Carol,
I stayed at the Gateway last month and it was fine! Clean, comfortable and great service at the desk. They also have free movies in the lobby to check out. We didn't stay in the room much, but the bed was comfy and the little fridge was great for keeping snacks/drinks cold. Can't beat the price!!!

Tammy said… - From the sounds of it sounds like it should pass the smog here. 32nd street is another navy base in san diego. What she could do to go there is take the bus to the trolley station in old town and then get on the blue line and it will drop her off near the base and take a bus the rest of the way. - Hello Carol, I know times are tough. Our cars do need to pass smog here, if she hasn't done anything to her car in the ways of modifications she should be ok. Point loma is sorta way in the back you could say. But my son for awhile could not drive and he did take the bus to places if I didn't take him where he wanted to go and had his friends pick him up. What kind of car does your daughter have? A thought for her maybe to seel it at home and buy something out here? Just another thought.

- Carol, I see your daughter is out in San Diego. I don't live or work that far from the bases and if she ever needs anything contact me and I will help her. I do know there is a bus i believe on base that will take you to the trolley station at old town. Also the buses can take her to the beach. If you have any other questions just ask my son is stationed at coronado.
