Hi Carol,
Just a quick note. Joey is doing so well. He is really liking what he is doing and sounds wonderful. Just wanted to touch base. Will write again soon. Cathy (Joe's mom)

Welcome neighbor! I am from nearby Stony Point. My son is an officer in the navy attending flight school in Pensacola. He went through Navy ROTC in college at Jacksonville U.

I am new to NavyForMoms. Found this site quite by accident. I have been involved with other groups regarding my son who enlisted in the Army. I find the groups very encouraging and full of information for us moms. They are a great support group!

Tell me some things about your son and how you are feeling about him being in the Navy. What is his job and where is he stationed?

Happy New Year!

Cookie

Hi Carol,
Thanks for the note. I'm doing surprisingly well. I'm better than I thought I would be. Joe made it to his ship safely. He's called a couple of times and e-mails almost every day. He really likes the ship and the people he is with so I guess that's probably why I'm doing so well. He seems really happy and I remembered what you said about not having him worry about me so he can concentrate on what he has to do. Thanks for your support. I really appreciate it. I hope your Christmas shopping is going well. We'll have to do coffee again soon. Cathy

Hi Carol,
Just a quick note - I got to keep Joe for Thanksgiving and the weekend. We stayed at the Navy Lodge in Little Creek and had dinner in the room. It was quite a memorable experience. I will be bringing him back to Norfolk Base Sunday and then driving home,. I'm not looking forward to leaving him. As a matter of fact I'm dreading it. I keep hearing you say that I'll be ok. I sure hope so. He's very excited about his trip. I wish I felt the same way. I'll call during the week. Thanks for your support. Cathy (Joe's Mom)

Hi, Carol
My son is a storekeeper, but he wants to get trained as an IT next year.
Their ship just arrived and he chatted with me on Yahoo. I was happy to hear from him again!

Hi Carol. Coincidentally my sister tried living in Bahrain last year. She didn't make it for more than 6 months and ended up moving back to London, which is home for her. How did your son like Bahrain? My son is not what you'd call "loving life" at Atsugi, but he is making the best of it until his next duty station. It's all you can do. We're originally from NE Ohio, but have called Colorado home for almost 10 years now. How does your son like Atsugi?

Hi, Carol
My son Nathan is stationed in Atsugi, but of course he is on the GW on the way there. He will be there for 3 years, I think. Is your son on the ship or he stays at the Base? Nathan is supposed to saty at the Base until the GW deploys. Then he joins is squadron for the trips.

Hi Carol! My name is Carol, too, and my son is stationed at NAF Atsugi. He's been there about a month, and this is his first deployment. He is a Corpsman working at the clinic currently...

Hi Carol,
Friday would be the best day for me if that is ok with you. What time is good? Thanks so much for doing this. I really appreciate it. We are going to be leaving for Norfolk next week. How will I know who you are? Cathy
