Michaels mom Karen, I think the Discussion Forum topic "Whidbey Island Moms - Please sign in" is the one mentioned before...anyone can start a group. :)

My son is leaving that day. He is at training now in SC. He is one of the few MC's. I hope your daughter is safe...I think it is much easier watching a son go over there than it would be to watch a daughter go.

Austiesmom, I'm glad you found us here at N4M. This site is such a wonderful place to pop in and say "Hi" to each other and share whatever we are going through...whether it is good stuff or bad stuff...we are together. :) I am hoping I can come to...

About me:
The flag that I am holding in the picture is my son's Boot Camp Division 080 flag. He was the RPOC and the guys decided that they were going to give the flag to his mom. I told them that I would wear it like a cape when I played soccer. I was in the Army when I was young. I am now an empty-nest at-home mom. I like to play soccer and crochet.

My son, T, is in A school studying mass communications(MC) at Ft Meade, MD. He is set to graduate Aug 4, 08. He just received orders for the USS Abraham Lincoln.
I am here to support or represent my:

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Mail is the next best thing to being there. Lots of mail with pictures and encouraging words.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

God has stationed our son close to home.

I didn't see it coming. In June '08 T received orders for his first duty station...Everett, WA. That is 2 hours from home. Join the Navy...See the world. He was a little bummed. God's plan for him was perfect.

On July 19, 08 my husband had a sudden cardiac arrest. For ten minutes I did chest compressions and talked to a wonderful 911 operator (praise the Lord for them). The paramedics arrived and took over. I was a mess. All I could think about was getting my parents and my sons to the hospital… Continue

He received orders

When he called he sounded excited. I was in the checkout line at Joann's. I hated to do it but I asked him if I could call him back in 5 minutes. When I called him back, my heart was pounding. Would he be going to some exotic land? Later I learned that one of his classmates was going to Japan. Another to Diego Garcia. Another to San Diego. When his class received their verbal orders they were all in a group cheering for each other. When they got to T....they said..."Everett, WA"....and the room… Continue

Waiting....waiting...this time, waiting for orders.

It could be today. It could be tomorrow. Next week?
They hear rumors all through A school. When will they get orders?
I know I'll look back on this blog and smile about how impatient I was.
T is set to graduate on Aug 4 and he really wants to take 2 weeks leave.
Will he graduate Aug 4, will he get leave? We pray and we encourage our sailors.
And we find wonderful websites like this to fill up on encouragement so we can pass it on to our sailors. :)
I'd like to give praise to God for the wonderfu… Continue

Me? Blog?

Cool. I feel like a real computer person with a blog.
Don't be fooled. I am a computer infant. I'll be making mistakes and confusing you all soon.
I was happy to get my photo next to my name.
I just put 2 photos of my son in here somewhere and I put a little explanation under them.
And now writing a blog. I'm pooped.
Until next time...Joy in Jesus. :)

He feels a little lost. People are nice to him and there's not much to do while waiting for school to start. HE got sick (bronchitis) and was confined to his room for two days and no one brought him any food! He is better now. We picked him up Saturday and he finally got his driver's license and some new contact lenses. He looks great but is ready to start school. How's everything with you all?

Hi Carol. You must be referring to the blog I posted. I am not an ER nurse. I am a simple admin assistant, nothing fancy there. My sister sent me the email because the symptoms mirrored my mothers when she had a heart attack and I felt it worthy of posting as maybe it could save a life. That's about the closest I've come to being a hero like our nurses out there.

Thank God your husband was diagnosed and is ok!

Hi Carol, it sounds like it was a true blessing that your son T was based here in Everett, WA - close to home. My son was bummed when he got based in Bremerton. I on the other hand welcomed the fact that he was about 30 minutes from home. His ship moved to Norfolk, where he is located now.
