Hi Carol,
It has been a while since we last emailed. I had started a new job and just didnt go on that much.; I always kept up to date in the reading of what was going on. You will never believe what I have put together recently. Our two sons are roommates in Whidbey. Can you believe it?? What are the chances of that? Not sure if you are still on this site. If so, write back soon. I have things to tell you. I drove to Whidbey the weekend they arrived back from deployment. I did not see Jeff, but I do know he and Ryan are roommates. You may already know this or heard Jeff say something about him.Hope to hear from you soon and hope you are well. I know we are since they have returned. Talk to you later.

Hi Carol!!!
I just got back from San Jose...I really do not like northern Calif. I think I like to just stay central!!! I am headed down to Tucson on Thursday to pick up 2 horses...kind of a nice trip, I can go to my nephews basketball games while I am there and see my mom and sister. I don't know when I will be in So. Calif again....all changes week to week!!! The new dog's name is Jesse. She is wonderfully sweet. Great with the little dogs. Haven't heard from Chad. He had said that he would call this past Friday which he did not. Am a little frustrated with him. He knows that with his grandma, the sun rises and sets on him. He has not bothered to contact her since he flew to Bahrain in October. I finally emailed him and ended with "write your grandmother, today!!!" Not sure whether to hug him or beat him when he comes back. I am heading off to bed....my email is tbones1214@aol.com. I am on that more than I am on this...talk to you soon!!!!

Hi Teri!! Oh, it's been so long since I have been on board. I have been really busy, just doing things away from the computer. I love the new addition to your family!! What a sweetheart, He looks a little like our Clifford. So whats his name? How wonderful that you saved his life....bless your heart.
Are you still heading out for California? Maybe you are already here? I'm located about 50 miles west of LA, in the Ventura County area, Moorpark to be exact. Please let me know if you are anywhere near, it would be nice to have lunch or share dinner together.
i hope you are doing well. How is Chad? I know they had some liberty time and I've been enjoying hearing about how Jeff is spending his time away from the ship.Take care, talk with you soon???

Hi Carol,
I have missed you on here. I am starting a new job today (yugh) and had major computer problems last week. Now back up and running much faster. Ryan didn't say a word about the ship rocking. I read it on the N4M's website. I called the careline yesterday and it had not been updated. My only drama lately is an textl from my sons girlfriend late Florida time last night.. They had been arguing over her having fun over xmas break. I have not heard from Ryan yet in regards to this, but I'm sure it's coming. I hope Jeff continues to get comfortable as possible. I know Ryan is feeling the same way or wanting it over. I believe they will have a break coming up shortly. I was amazed at our warm weather also. I saw people in shorts yesterday. Welcome to California!!! Well take care, gotta get ready for work. Keep in touch. I enjoy hearing from you and am thinking about you and your son. Diana

Hi Carol,
I was so glad to hear from you. I will tell you that Ryan is now working on the night shift, so I can't imagine being with the same squadron that they wont cross paths. I will find out if Ryan has a nickname. I know several do. As you hear from Cynthisa in NC, she has not heard from her son for awhile. We are very lucky that we at least get a short email. My son is not really big on emails or calling homeI know that he misses us, and once said it makes it harder to hear us. If I go to long with no hearing from him, I call his girlfriend in Fl and talk to her. Ryan must send a small fortune staying in touch with phone calls to her. HA At this point, I am still waiting for the promised phone call. Like several of the moms mentioned, it doesn't always come as promised. I try and not give him a hard time and it definitely gets a little easier as time goes on.My husband tells me he is growing up( but I know he still needs his mom!!!) or maybe its the boxes of goodies I send?? Have you mailed any boxes to the ship? Just want to make sure youre aware of the boxes at post office for 10.95 as much as you can fit in box. It takes two weeks from the time I mail. I only had one box from Thanksgiving that took 4 weeks. Go figure, that was the one with homemade cookies!! Ryan said he still ate them. Guess that is what life at sea will do to you. I wll have to ask Ryan if he did the swim off the ship. And when they have been in port, if they are 18 they are able to drink in the sandbox area. They can not drink in town, and if they go to town they have to be in groups, They tell you to pick your friends carefully. I guess I will catch up on the group chatter.Take care, Diana

Good morning,
I did hear from Ryan the last few days with email. I am hoping to receive a phone call tonight. I did not hear from him over Christmas. I know the phone lines were very long, and he was busy enjoying shore time. I did ask Ryan if he had met Jeff, but said he had not. Give them sometime and I am sure they will cross paths. They better not wait until they get off the ship and find that they are traveling together. Ryan met a girl in Pensacola during A school, so he may delay is time off until she finishes softball in FL. Not exactly sure how coming home will pan out, but I do know he will come home. Wants to bring his girlfriend home to us for two weeks, We will see how that works out!!! My Ryan just commented today that he is a little tired of the routine of day after day. I reminded him that everyone is probably feeling that way also. As I mentioned earier, I do not write on the Roosevelt group as much as the other ladies, but be sure, I always am caught up on the reading of events. Such a great source of info. I hope Jeff is adjusting to life at sea. Let me know how he is doing. Ryan is 6'2", so maybe by sight, they can meet. They both are the same age. We went to Utah to go to Bryce Canyon and Zion over the new Years holiday.Once I transfer to computer, I will post a few pics on my page. Told Ryan all about it and that he has to see it someday. Weather couldn't have been nicer. Cold, but sunny and bright. Take care, and I am thinking of you and your son. TTYL Diana

Well, Carol, i am guessing we are going to be good friends since both of our sons are stationed at Whidby Island. My son Ryan is a parachute rigger, in non navy talk, he packs parachutes, repairs them, checks flight equipment on the jets and the ejection seats on the planes. Due to working with the squadron and planes the color of shirts tell what jobs the girls and guys do.Ryan graduated bootcamp in feb. 2008 then was in corpman school in great lakes. He did not pass, so he had to wait to find another job. Then was sent to Pensacola for several months waiting to start school for his current job. He joined the TR before halloween. Can you believe the experience that our boys are having? I will ask Ryan if he knows Jeff since he is the new guy. My son really enjoys the Navy and hasn't had to many complaints.I am a little familar with Moorpark, and I am in Corona by Riverside. My son says the guys in the squadron are nice to work with. No worries, they stay so busy.Again, welcome to the best navy moms our there!!!!

HI Carol, welcome to the group. My son Jason is a machinest mate on the TR. He grad BC in June then stayed in Chicago for a school then went directly to the TR. Right now he is low man on the totem pole. But he is getting by. What does your son do on the TR.
