My husband is in the Nuke program right now and also says that at this point, because the Navy is so overstaffed right now (all recruiting for the Navy is closed for this year, except for Nukes and I believe two other jobs) that those who fail out o…

About me:
Not a mom, but I know I'm not the only one! Micah and I have been married since June 08 2008, and I am so proud of my Sailor! We just found out that he was accepted into the STA-21 program, so now he's trying to get all of his ducks in a row for that. We're hoping to go to a university in PA, as we would be so much closer to our family there.
I am here to support or represent my:
Spouse/Significant other
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
That I need to offer my support and encouragement unconditionally, especially now that he's trying to get everything taken care of for STA 21.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

What a morning!

Bah! I had just gotten back a hour and a half ago from dropping off my husband for his classes, and was very much looking forward to going back to bed. Our car gave us a bit of trouble this past weekend - the key wouldn't turn in the cylinder, I guess the tumblers are giving out (this is apparently a common problem for our model/year/mileage), so we had it towed back to our house. I went out the next day, gave the key a few whacks in the ignition to see if I could loosen it up, and it worked. Ho… Continue

Tomorrow!

I only have one more sleep until I see my husband - and it's even better because it's the last time I'll have to sleep alone for around 2 years! Micah's flight arrives at 7:11PM. I can't wait. I have a lot of final packing to do (one could ask, "well, why are you writing a blog post?", and I would have to say....dunno."), and I have to keep bringing all of our boxes and stuff from the basement to the living room for easier access on Thursday. Yeah, Thursday we're getting a truck, loading it, and… Continue

PIR Weekend!

So, it was great. It really, really was!
Flew out to Midway Thursday night, drove up to the hotel, got not a lot of sleep, parked in that train station only because I realized on the way to the airport that I had forgotten to grab our parking pass, but it worked out really well anyway parking there. Sitting and waiting for the ceremony to begin was surreal - I still didn't really believe that I was going to see my husband that day! Finally, finally it began, and I nearly fainted when we a… Continue

Leaving on a jet plane...

Well, tomorrow, anyway. :-D
I haven't packed a thing except for some toiletries - I really need to get on that! In fact, perhaps that's what I should be doing right now...
I'm so excited to wrap my arms around him, kiss him, and, well, you know...my mom and Becca already know they have to make their own plans for at least most of the day on Friday! :-D Haha! I haven't seen my husband in 2 months, what do you expect? Hehehe.
I can't get Friday off of my mind. I feel like this week is dragging on… Continue

Getting sooo close!

I imagine that a week from now I will probably start to pack. I am so freaking excited! I hope to find out when Micah's division has battle stations by Thursday (I'm hoping he says in his letter), and from there I guess I'll just have to hold my breath until he calls to tell me that he is officially a US Sailor! I have no doubt in my mind that he can do it. He is such a strong person, in so many ways. I am so, so proud of him, and just cannot wait to throw my arms around him again!

I understand the problems with houses...we have the same kind of stuff. I'm done with prototype, but on hold after surgery. Everyone I know around here is pretty much gone except for a couple of people. I never realized how boring this place was until I didn't know anyone!!! How long has your hubby been on T-Track?

Hey! Thank you so much for your answers!! They were very informative!! Im sure you know how i feel bc you were once in my position. it doesnt help that i worry about every little thing that happens!! I got the form letter today from him and that made me very happy to know hes doing well and hes ok! he said he cant wait to see us!! I have been writing him everyday!! I know that its important to write!! Thats good that we will know if hes grad and go before it actually happens!! I just hope for the best!! I am a waitress right now! I live in Troy. its the absolute smallest town ever!!! I might go back to school for nursing at some point! Are we allowed to have pets at goose creek? I hope so! My kitty has to go! :) I will always encourage him to do his best and make sure he works hard!!! I know thats super important! They are allowed to come home every night tho right? I know there are phases and i wasnt sure how they worked. i know that he cant drive for a while and stuff right? I have no idea how big it is there or anything! Do you like the houses there and stuff? There is so much on my mind! My biggest worry is that i will have to wait a long time before moving there with him! I hope not! I have heard that the schooling is very tough but he also knows that in the end once he is through with it, it will pay off big time! As long as hes happy i will be happy for him! I am already very proud of him! His brother actually went through the schooling but got out of the navy after 4 years. im not quite sure why, i thought he had to be in for 6. So your husband is in A school still right now?? Well thank you so much for your answers!! It means alot to have more knowledge about whats ahead!!! Keep in touch!

Well thank you! I think it will make the best Christmas present:) That is a great path your husband has choosen. It sounds like you both are very happy!! Eric is my boyfriends name and he has decided Aviation and would also like to be a rescue swimmer. Right now he is in Aircrew Canidate School and after 4 weeks will move to A School, he also plans on only six years. So your husband is thinking of becoming an officer? I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Thank you for all of the suggestions. This site has really helped so far. His ma actually suggested joining and it was a great idea ( she is also on it). BC was actually not too bad for me. I did a lot of thinking for myself and I was so busy with school and internships that I didnt have time to worry. Looking forward to his letters was the highlight of my weeks as well as writing to him. This past weekend was a tease because it was three days and then he was off again. I think I may take up scrapebooking and make something for him, we have been dating for 4 years so I have a lot to add. I will be finishing up my last semester of collage, so I should be busy with classes and job searching which will keep me from thinking about missing him, even though I will never stop. What does your sailor want to do and how long is he enlisted for?
