We also stayed at the Homewood Suites in Lincolnshire. Nice rooms with kitchens and access to gas grills. So, we carried food and grilled out and had vegetables. (The rooms are a litte higher than some places but they will give you a Navy PIR discou…

My 82 year old mother went with us to PIR. Although the weather was nice (June 08) we had to walk a long way and she had to stop and rest several times. (At the time we were unaware that her pacemaker battery needed replacing.) We found out later th…

Hello Marcia V, Taking that to PIR is a good idea. You might also want to carry a gallon or so of water from home. We visited our sailor and his bride who are living in on-base housing at Great Lakes and they buy bottled water to make tea with. We w…

I wish I had thought of Cracker Barrell when we went to PIR. That is one thing my sailor wanted more than anything was a glass of sweet tea.

I am going to that dinner tomorrow (well today now) with MCPON West. I have that as one of the questions on my list. Why would the Navy put so much money into a Nuke just to dismiss them. Wondering if it is just those that don't pass A School or if it is also those that don't pass Power School.

So happy for your son that he was reclassified. I have heard that some are being released from their contract and sent home. My son is in Power School right now. Has about seven weeks before comps. He hasn't sounded stressed yet but I expect the last couple weeks he will. His grades are high enough for him to not worry about failing. I pray it stays that way.

Your son must have shown his desire to be the best Sailor he could possibly be for his commanding officers to reccomend his retention. What a blessing for all of you. It would be difficult to be sent home with a baby on the way.

If the next TN Meet and Greet is in the Jackson area, reckon you might be able to come?

Cheryl, wasn't your son an ET in Nuke. Has he changed his rate? Are you all still doing the PGR?

Are you going to be Nana, Granny, Mawmaw or ...?

p.s. Had to laugh at your "discussion" about PIR Oopses. When my kids graduated, there were no such rules. I have photos of them with their RDC's outside the ceremonial hall, etc. Things change.....

Hi Cheryl - - did you see the "event" for the Tenn Meet & Greet? Planned for Sat, April 25 in Murfreesboro. A bit of a hike from your place, but would love to see you if you can make it! We will be planning events in the east and west ends of the state after this one, hope to learn some things that will be useful going forward! Hope you can come! (ps thanks for the PGR info) Cathy

Thanks for the info about PGR. We have a Harley, but I'm the "passenger" ! A while back I did some internet research on PGR, but didn't see how to get involved locally. I'll send you a friend request so you can send me that contact info. And, all the best to your Sailor!
