Yes, I agree. A new way of life for all of us in the U.S. Navy!!! They have to fit us into their lives on their terms now. However, keep talking and letting them know how much you love and miss them. It's very important.

Hi Cheryl - I noticed that you had said that your son was a bone marrow match for someone. My 18 year old daughter is currently in Guam and will be coming to the states (Georgetown University Hospital) around Sept 8 for the same thing. We are familiar with the marrow procedure as I have had 2 transplants myself, but I am wondering about the process with the DoD. Did you go with him? I know she is allowed a companion so I will definitely be there but I am such a planner that I have a million questions. Any information you have would be great! Thanks - Kristen

I'll be praying for you Cheryl. I am a strong person too and like you, I hate the waiting. Sometimes for me, that is worse than the actual thing I am worrying about. I pray for good results!

Thanks for the nice welcome!. i haven't been on since I worked the last 2 days and I do 10 hour days and I'm on the computer all day. Can't look at a comp after work. I'm off tomorrow so I ventured on today.Lindsey is my first one to join, and she is finishing MA school in Va beach. She graduates this Tuesday and is coming home until Feb 15th. she'll get to go up for her twin sister Lauren's grad from boot on Feb 13th!. What a great luck for them. They are so close and the separation has been hard for them. She then leaves for Okinowa on Feb 16th. She's so excited! Her sister is staying at Great Lakes for internal communications school. I got a letter from Lauren yesterday and she sounded pretty good. Nervous about all the tests coming up! The stress is pretty great in boot. Well good luck to you all as well and I'm sure we'll be in touch again.

Hi Cheryl,
Sam just sent me a picture of her while on bow safety. She also got her first evaluation today. It was good but said she had to work on her leadership abilities. She is kind of a hot head/inpatient, but very sweet girl once you get to know her. She does wear green and is very small so everything swallows her. We tried to find a pair of work gloves here to send her that may fit her better. She does work on deck and I think now has been moved to nights. This is her first time out, and when she left for basic was her first time away from home. We used to talk everyday so its been hard. But everytime I get a letter from her I can tell she is growing up. This was a good decision for her to make and we are very proud of her. We live in a small town in MO so there is not much here to offer them when they graduate High School.

I will have to ask her if she knows your son. Its always nice to have something in common with someone when your child is so far away.
