About me:
My name is Tina. I am a former journalist and now a second grade teacher. I have been married to Gary for 28 years, and we have two children. My son, Chris, is my sailor and 23. He has been in the Navy for one year. My daughter, Erin, is 13. We live in Euless, a town in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in Texas. When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I was not alone in my feelings, emotions and anxieties. All other parents experience those, too. But I came away from Boot Camp graduation so extremely proud of my son. That continues today.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hello Ms Tina,
Things are hoppin around here. I quit my job in July and went home to take care of my mom while my dad had a heart procedure. When I got back, I deceided to go back to school to get my RN degree. I am going to Weatherford college and it will take me 1 year. I am taking anatomy and microbiology this semester and have been very busy. I will have semester break from Dec. 11 to Jan 11 and I will plan a get together for us. Not sure at this point if I'll be able to do the parade, just depends on school.
Hope all is well with your sailor. Is he still at Groton? Our sailor is doing well. He will be receiving new orders in Feb.
Please tell Erin I said hello. I think of my little friend often. I hope she is enjoying school this year.
Stay in touch. Will plan lunch over the break.
Love, Kate

Hi Tina,
Sorry I didn't see your son, when I was down in VA and everyone my son asked didn't know your son...We did get to see the plane, a few helos, and walk a pier next to a carrier...All in all it was a great trip, just not long enough. We were also able to meet up with some of the sailors my son had brought home over the last year and take them out to a nice meal. My son is now back on day check and will be going for his "Plane Captain" certs in a few weeks. My son will wear a yellow shirt on the carrier, he lands and sends the plane off.
Hope all is going well for your sailor, please keep in touch.
