that is so great Christian is doing so well! Cody said that Christian has really found his place in the Navy- like he was meant for it. I think we got to meet his girlfriend before we left- that was cool.
Co.dy will be home from the 18-3rd. Nikki will pick him up in SSF- her school is so close- we are taking the kids to a cabin in Tahoe for a few days after Christmas with my parents and my little one too. Should be great fun. Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving- please tell Christian hi for us! love- val

Christine, Thank you for my yellow ribbon!! Adam played through his junior year but he couldn't senior year becaue it interfered with JROTC. I just bet Adam knows your son because he said that 945 was their partner band for practice. I think 942 played some jokes on them liking telling them they had to salute the petty officer in the poster next to the door when they entered the practice room. My son loves to kid people so I'm sure he was in on that one!! Also I saw 945 outside the drill hall at graduation marching and they sure looked sharp. And yes the horrid tax season is just around the corner!! Have a great weekend!!

Christine, I think my son Adam practiced with your son in the band maybe? He played the french horn. I have another son at home too who will be able to start his Eagle hopefully around March. He is trying to finish the 12 weeks on personnel fitness!! thanks for the friend invite. How long will your son be in A school at GL? Mine is in San Antonio for Master At Arms and has about 5 more weeks.

I got a question for you Christine. My son will be carrying a state flag. Should we wait on the bleachers for him?

Christine, Thank you for the wonderful prayer! My son is scheduled for bs21 this Sunday and Monday. Only nine days till I'm on the road to Great Lakes! The nesting syndrome has kicked in and I'm worrying over having everything ready for our family.

I've lost all my fears and am now just excited and miss him more than ever, but somehow I like that... I'll want to smother him with hugs more after we leave the base! lol I just can't believe it is SO close. I can't imagine how nervous, excited, proud, anxious the recruits must be feeling. I hear he should go into Battle stations 10/23!!! ahh!

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Regardless of how we want to be there for our kids all the time, there is a time when we have to let them go forth and become their own person. I'm so proud of Christian and the path he has chosen for his life, I know he will excel in the Navy and beyond. We as parents have raised a fine young man, the Navy has made him even better.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

My First Thanksgiving As A Navy Mom

So here it is, two days before Thanksgiving. It's lovely weather here in Nor Cal, chilly, clear nights, bright sunshine days. My mom decided to have Thanksgiving at her house this year, I offered to help her cook and she said she has everything taken care of but if she needs me she'll call. So I should be estatic about not having to cook and all that. Well I am, not that I mind doing all the cooking and everything that goes with Thanksgiving, I enjoy it very much. But, I'm also sad because my so… Continue

09/25/09 PIR Weekend (Ship 06/Div 945)

Wow, what a weekend! The redeye flight was packed, it was harder to sleep on the plane from Sacramento to Houston because we were so excited about going. The flight from Houston to Milwaukee was good, got a good nap on that flight. Due to construction on the highways, we got lost (Cal says we were just diverted) for about 15 minutes getting out of Milwaukee, but got to Waukegan with no trouble, checked into the hotel early, which was nice, and got in a little nap after settling in.

We met up wi… Continue
