Sounds as if our sons are in the same boat, my son said it is like you are taking a whole semester of math in one day.It is so hard for me. I will plan to go and visit him on Thursday whether he gets leave or not. The drive is only about 4 hours away and I feel he needs the visit. I don't know what to say to him anymore, I try and tell him to look at all the things he has accomplished within this short period of time. Before he left for boot camp he couldn't even fold clothes.LOL. I hope that he will cheer up and maybe enjoy something. He is into the I hate this place etc.

Hi Christine
How are you? good here.....Joshua got his wish, San Diego :)
we're all so happy about it. He'll be on the largest carrier, The Nimitz.
He graduates A school on the 22nd then home for 2 weeks...YIPEEEEEE
I'm not telling my other sons or hubby....it'll be a HUGE surprise when he walks in the door. Then in June we're all driving to SD to see him take off, he said he'll be leaving that soon for his 1st 6 month deployment. I miss everyone on our PIR group page......let me know how Joel is doing....

Hey Christine,
I just read the note you sent some days back...sorry, I am a bit tardy in reading and replying! Cody seems to be doing pretty good. That basic electricity test spooked him a little but he did ok. He didn't have to add study hours, so I am guessing that was a good thing. They had another test today so I am waiting to see how he did on that one. I hope he did ok. I had to call him last night and tell him his grandfather passed away. Even though he took the news pretty well, I know he is a little stressed over not going to the funeral. He thought about it but it was in Maryland and he was afraid he would get bumped back a week if he went...and he didn't want that! How is Joel doing? Great I hope! How are you doing???? Stay in touch...thanks for dropping me a note!

Hi Christine,
Aaron seems to be hanging in there. I won't say he has mastered the time management issue, but he does seem to have fallen into a routine that works for him. His last BE test he scored a 3.6 on and still wasn't happy! He wanted a 3.75 to help raise his overall pt. total (I don't know if they call it GPA in the Navy?) I think the Sailors adjust to how much time it will take each week to get things done and just find a way to do it. Aaron's class is on the until after Basic Electricity - I don't remember what he called it but he likes it better. He was able to phase up with his class and that made him happy. Tell Joel if you ever mail him a big box and it doesn't arrive, he needs to go check with the mail room. We mailed Aaron's civilian clothes March 11th priority mail and insured it. He still didn't have it last week so I checked with our post office. It was delivered to the base March 14th!! Aaron went to ask about it and they found it - pushed back somewhere. He was uncertain about going to ask until I told him I had confirmation it was delivered. Silly boy! Aaron sounds happy when he calls and has found some guys that he hangs out with when they do have some free time. Great to hear from you. Glad Joel is doing well. Just keep encouraging him and tell him to keep plugging away at what is required and it will soon become easier for him!

Hi Christine,
Nice to hear from you. Aaron is struggling some with his time management. They had a major test last week on Basic Electricity - something he has NO prior knowledge of. He scored a 3.1 and was disappointed he didn't do better. He was thankful it wasn't any lower though. Sailors that scored 3.5 or above were allowed to cut their study hrs. to 10 a week; Sailors that scored 3.0 or below had to bump their study hours to 20. Aaron was glad he stayed at 15! He said if at any time their cumulative score drops below 2.5 they are dropped from the program. I know it is stiff and worry about him keeping up. The Moms on the Nuke site make PowerSchool sound so much more difficult than A school, I worry about him come September. He will be a new bride groom then too and not wanting to spend as much time in the class room I'm sure!! Aaron says they call the PowerSchool classroom the "dark side" because those guys are in class before the sun comes up and after the sun goes down -- never see the light of day! Oh my! Wish I wasn't such a worry wart! HA!
Take care and keep in touch. Hope Joel is enjoying his classes.

Christine, Happy Anniversary. Yes, we've been able to communicate with Grady tons already at least compared to BC. Grady says that he thinks he'll class up by about 1-2 weeks. That makes me sad that they probably won't meet each other right away, but possibly for the next 6 month school next fall. I'll have to hope for the best on that one. Grady currently has a lot of time to play and explore. He said that they have the entire weekend off and that is a bit too much freedom but being fresh out of BC hopefully he'll remember what he has worked so hard for. So nice of you to write back. Let's keep in touch and update each other as things move along. It will be so nice to have another Mom to encourage and share. I'll keep in touch, Janie

Hi Christine, I just joined N4Moms and searched Chester, NH and happened to come across you! I noticed first that we have the same name, and then that Joel was actually a friend of mine at Pinkerton! That's fantastic that he's joined the Navy. What stage is in now and where is he stationed? Hope all is well!

Hi there Christine...
Just wanted to say Hello :)
How is Joel doing? and how was your visit?

Christine, Thank you for writing. I really appreciate it. You have a beautiful family. I so enjoyed your slideshow. So much love there.
So maybe Grady and Joel will possibly end up in school together. Grady is an ET, how about Joel? Does that make a difference for their school? I've only talked to Grady once yesterday, but today I FED EXED his electronics so maybe by this weekend we'll be able to communicate. Do you think he'll get the package when it arrives or have to wait to earn it? I guess I don't know what to expect yet and everything is still so new, heck, I'm doing the crying thing again, just like bootcamp, pretty depressed about the finality of it all. So many questions and don't know the answers yet. By the way, Grady is in a dorm room with one other sailor, but he doesn't yet have a roommate/bunkmate for his bedroom. Any chance they are together already. Maybe we'll have to exchange addresses. He used this sailors cell phone with an area code of 843 to call me yesterday. Sound familiar? Long shot but thought it worth asking. As a mom, I'm so concerned for his well being. This is quite a stretch for my faith and mommyhood!! Look forward to talking again. Janie
