He will get ALL of his letters regardless of different addresses. That happened to me too. Just switch now to the form letter address.

garda- call his recruiter as he may have his address by now. They have it 72 hours after they arrive at GL. It is worth a try to ask. That is how I got my son's address.

garda- you're welcome. Enjoy!

Jodia- YES- your son will be going first along with Div. 42 (possibly the next 2 as well) as you all have a LARGE PIR group. The good news is that you will know FIRST and then be able to relax. : ) That is what happened with me.

Jodia- I had a "revelation" today. Looking back at it all....I wonder if I could have just not rented a car after all! At Midway (and I'm sure other Airports) the metrotrain runs right out of there. I bet I could have just takedn that train to a s...

Glad you all like the Questionaire I made up! I seriously got a lot of information from when he filled it out and sent it back home. I'm sure he appreciated not having to remember and try to answer questions from letters. It is all "right there." ...

Margaret is correct- they go in numerical order (and I believe up to 4 divisions can go together in one night. DO ask your reruit for the date of his/her BS. This is VERY important for you to know. Calls come in the next day anywhere from like 3:0...

I got my first REAL call 3 weeks in. As Momma B said, calls depend on what is going on with their division and they are very few. I only rec'd the "I'm here" call, the 3 week call, and the "I'm a Sailor" call after he completed Battle Stations a f...

Tanao- just highlight, copy and paste into a microsoft word document. Hope you like it. I got a lot of great information from my son from this! You might be able to modify it to fit your needs-not sure. I just made this one up. Cindy

Tanao- they don't know for sure until they have completed Battle Station the last week before graduation (unfortunately). Some divisions do BS just two days before the actual graduation date. No one does BS the night before PIR as it goes all nigh...

Traveling and airports....we flew into Midway Airport. It was a nightmare as far as traffic goes. It took us two hours in a rental car to get to the Navy Lodge due to construction and a rented GPS system that took us through all the back roads. We...

Tanao- what document of questions are you looking for? I added on here a questionaire that I made and sent to my son that had questions for him to answer (fill in the blank) which gave me a lot of good information. Is that you are referring to pos...

proudmama- no that isn't crazy! The good thing is that he is obviously doing well and the singing practice is probably helping him to get through the days. Rejoice in the fact that he is doing so well. Good for him. Tell him to order the DVD of gr...

Just thought of something....the uniforms are seasonal, so your recruits (soon to be sailors) will be graduating in their "dress blues" which is VERY cool looking. I personally like them better than the whites. Great PIR photos ahead!

Hi Cindy,
You where right. Steven's graduation date will be Jan 22. I recieved my first letter from him today. I have been on the internet ever since looking for flights. I can't wait to see him. I knew when he left it would be hard, but i never expected it to be as hard as it's been. I miss not hearing him drive up the road with his old pickup. You could hear the pickup from 5 houses away. He took off the muffler soon after he got his truck. In the letter i recevied today has the web site. I think i could'nt log on because it's too soon. Also in Steven's comment area of the letter he commented about the ROC's. He said they were awesome. He also said he got yelled at more when he was in high school. Which is good he's not getting in to any trouble their.

Hi Cindy,
Hopfully your Thanksgiving was nice even though your son was not their. My was diffrent this year. Not having Steven was really hard. I guess I will have to get use to this. By the way I tried to go to the web site you included in your last email. I can't connect to the site to sent to show the graduation dates. If you can please resend it.

Thanks
Tina

No you don't need to be near a Navy base - just if someone is in your area - visiting- driving to whereever, etc.

Cindy thought maybe you would like to go on Sailor Rescue List. These are people all over the country who go to Navy kids help if they need it. There was a boy who was shot in Louisiana and a Mom from that area went and helped the kid out, or someone is stuck on a road - car breaksdown, etc they have someone in the area come and help. Pretty cool. Check it out.
