About me:
I don't like to talk much about myself. But here goes.....
I have been around the Navy life since I was little girl. My cousin was active Navy when I was in elementary school. And we used to love when he would surprise us walking down the sidewalk all dressed up in his crackerjacks, at our apt. in San Diego, Ca. Then I met my husband who was in the Navy as well. We are a very large Navy family. My hubby's 5 uncles were all Navy, my sister-in-law is Navy, my niece and her husband are all active. Both my daughters, NAVY !!! Of course...... My other niece's husband is a Navy recruiter in Kansas. So you see, that's my life, the NAVY. I loved being a Navy wife. Alot of my Navy friends hated their husbands being in, complained all of the time about them leaving. But I knew before I married my husband back in 1981 what kind of a life I was getting myself into. It's a wonderful life and I'm proud to say I am a "retired Navy wife" and current Navy mom!!!
My husband retired from the Navy in 1997 and we've made Ohio our home. Now a Navy Mom! Both of my daughters joined the Navy after high school. My oldest, KD has been on active duty for 8 1/2 yrs. now. She is currently deployed overseas. She knew as a child that she was going to join the Navy. That was her dream to be in the Navy just like her dad! She is a 2nd class IT serving on the USS MASON....My youngest daughter, Lacey served 5 yrs with JAG as a paralegal and was stationed at Lemoore NAS and decided to get out to work as a para legal at a law firm. I am a stay at home GRANDMA!!! Since KD is away, we have our little 4 yr old grandson Tre' living with us.
I am here to support or represent my:
Kimberly (KD)
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted, Overseas
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To just sit back and admire my daughters for their strength and courage to become a United States Navy Sailor.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hi again Cody. Yes I agree with you and your hubby about the positive attitude. As a matter of fact, it is a family trait, I would say, as my older sister has a Ph.D. in psychology, specifically positive psychology - she teaches and speaks at senior centers about how a positive outlook is key to good health as you grow older, etc. But of course it is good at all stages of life. Anyway, like your daughter, my son is very excited about the Presidential Inauguration Parade. Wowie! I might be getting tickets through our congressman, but I think I won't be able to get a flight there. They are already booked for locations up to a hundred miles outside of DC. Its a bummer because I have a place to stay and will have tickets, but no way to get a flight to anyplace near DC. Imagine that. I'll have to watch it on TV and record it for posterity. Well gotta get back to work. Talk to you soon.

Hi Cody! Great pictures. What a cute grandson. My son, Jan (Yahn) is a CG and I just got home last night from his boot camp graduation. Thanks for your posting on that message board. With all the people trashing the CG on there I don't feel like I can say anything good without starting an argument! My son doesn't seem to have had all the problems those other young men did, or maybe he just hasn't spoken about them to me. I also think that part of this is attitude - he is secure in who he is and knows the verbal abuse is just a mind game. But since I am not personally experiencing what they are going through, I cannot comment. Anyway - thanks for your inspiring words. They really mean a lot.

Thank you so much for the sweet inspiring comment. It means a lot! I am glad a Navy wife can say that us girlfriends are just as important. We stand by our men just as much! That is awesome that your daughters are following in your husbands footsteps. Its amazing how much they look like you! What is their job in the Navy?

Cody, A big thankyou to your daughter, sometimes our sons' calls are so quick I don't get to ask all the questions, and sometimes his answers don't make sense to me. I should just go with it, but this site is so awesome and everybody so willing to get the specific information, it's great! Your grandson is just adorable. I bet you have a great time with him! Take care. Staci

Well said Cody ! I wish someone would talk to all the young female sailors (like the warnings they get @boot camp abt people who try to take advantage financially of military), too many fall into that ideal of getting married & then (OMG) the having baby (-ies). They are too young & as much as they fight it, too immature, & not ready for either one. Most likely they are lonely & they think that will help. There is nothing worse than being married, or with someone & being unhappy, or more lonely than you were before. Better pay or housing/benefits is no substitute for reality. I hope that doesn't sound bad, I have friends that did just that & knew others, they all regretted it later, when they were older & understood, like when they were 25,26, 27...
Its difficult when you are that young to think about how much things can change.
I would add, there are a few that are able to make it work, but it is hard work.

Cody, Welcome to the Mason site! i was beginning to think i was the only one who looked at the Mason site. i am new to the navyformoms thing. My son has been in the navy for three years and this is his third deployment. He was ony home 3 weeks after his first 8 month deployment when he was sent right back to the Gulf to temporarily replace an ET that jsut happened to get pregnant! He was not too happy. He was at sea 11 out of thirteen consecutive months until they finally sent a permanent replacement for that sailor. My son is 3rd generation navy in my family. We are very proud of him.

Great pic's! One of these days I'll figure out how to download pictures. I know how to download them from my camara to the computer, but not how to get them to here. Perhaps after the rush of the holidays we can get together for coffee. I'll just bring the pictures!!

Hi Cody!
My name is Teresa. I live here in Lancaster too! I bought my home here about 7 years ago. I have two sons in the Navy. Matt is in Kings Bay Georgia on the sub base, he was on the Barry before that. Rick was on the Kennedy when it was de-commisioned and is now on the Cole in Norfolk. We are flying Matt home for the OSU/Mich game and for Thanksgiving. Didn't think Rick would be able to come home but have recently learned that he broke his foot and my be able to be home after all. Depends on when he recieves info on his TDA. Can't believe I found another Mom here in Lancaster, Ohio!
