I like your recipe Maryellen, bet that could be a secret weapon the Navy could use.
on Friday
Good Morning ladies. Hope all is well. Making cookies today. Also wanted to let you know that if any of you will be visiting your sailors anytime soon, and are avid quilters; I found a quaint shop just over the James River bridge in Carrollton Va ca…

2sailor mom, they do make us proud, and they need to be family so they can work so well, I echo your sentiment, I AM PROUD TO BE A NAVY MOM. We completed our Christmas production, and lives were changed, which it is always about. I plan now, Maryell…

That's great to hear. I was able to go with my sailor to the gate where they got on the ship, and despite the comments about the area, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and monitored the area around the shipyard was. I've been to docks before,…

Hello, is anybody out there? It's been busy, but I'm missing talking with all of you. December 7th. Pearl Harbor Day for those who remember. My granddaddy always told us the significance of the days in the year to our national security, or to threat…

Hey 2 sailor Mom, glad you got some good quality time with your sailor. My sailor was notified but was on another ship for training and didn't get the names in in time. That's ok, as she will be spending plenty of time on the ship once they are fini…

On the ship? Didn't know anyone could go on the ship while it was in the shipyard.

Pep Boys is a national chain, and their prices are set by region I guess. Good idea.

Profile Information

About me:
Mom of 3 girls, Youngest left for Great Lakes Sept 23 and is scheduled to graduate 11/21.
Sarah PIR'd on 11/21 as scheduled. Left two days later for Pensacola Fl for A school. Trained as ABH, and is now reporting next Friday to Norfolk Va for duty.
Sarah has been in the Navy for a little over a year, and I am seeing such maturity and strength in her, it is amazing.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
My daughter has what it takes to complete the tasks given to her, she loves her country and serves it proudly.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
Being the Mom of a sailor is a proud circumstance. I say that to let my friends and family know that my daughter takes her position very seriously and is learning at such great strides. She is fast becoming a woman of excellence; just as the Navy will do for your son or daughter.

Not without thoughts of their safety, but with thoughts of their determination, honor, pride and faith.

Duty to country comes in many forms. The military is one of them. All Americans lend to this great fabric called the United States of America in many ways.

Congrats we both have sailors. I loved being with Sean over the weekend as I'm sure you enjoyed yours with Sarah. She's fortunate to go to FL. Sean has to stay in GL and will be up there for a very long winter and possibly late spring or early summer until he gets to leave. I guess he'll just have to buckle down for a hard winter and have extra blankets on hand. - Ann

I knowDevyn told us that he thought it would be at least 2 weeks, so i'm hoping for the dec 5th pir. flights are way cheaper then. The not knowing what is going on is killing me. He said that he was getting moved but we won't have his new address until Wed. So it is frustrating

Colleen, if you click on the Meet n' Greet on the right side of the page, Flanagan's has their own link to a website and it has directions on there, menu, pictures, etc. I printed out the directions so we'll know how to get there. Hope to see you! My son is in Div 8, Ship 9.

HI colleen, I haven't heard from my son since they were able to call home with they first arrived for boot camp. I do get one weekly letter which doesn't say a whole lot. I guess my son doesn't like to write very much. I don't know much about what he is going through. I just don't know why he hasn't called. How often do you hear from you daughter?

I'm glad we found each other. I've searched for some people who have son or daughters in Div 004 ship 14. There isn't many of us. It seems like I'm the only one with a son in that Div and Ship that is graduating on 11-21. We are planning on seeing Joseph's PIR. We are excited. We are staying at the Ramada Inn in Waukgen.

Talk to you later.

Colleen, have you found the PIR 11/21/2008 group yet? You would probably enjoy this group. You'll probably find a mom who has a daughter with yours.

I haven't read about the pictures. I just told Sean before he left that he needs to purchase the pictures that they take. He usually doesn't get anything like that. He didn't even want senior pictures or did he go to high school graduation. High School just didn't mean anything to him. I think this graduation will mean a lot more to him.

Hi Colleen,
He probably was. My son said there was a girl that was leaving the same day. Are you looking as forward to the 21st as I am? Will you be going to PIR? Gotta run chat with you later.
