Family Time With Son

Sunday July 13th we had family dinner with my son. He is not much on having a lot of people so we kept it kind of small for our family standards. For some reason we always have enough food to feed more than what we have there, but it was all good.
My son wanted pictures of the food so he could show his buddy's 'real food'. So I took pictures of empty table, full table and pictures of the desserts on the other table. I also got pictures of family members so I could send to him and he could add to… Continue

Another Graduation...

After about a year and a half of schooling it was time for another graduation!! This time his father, our daughter Jennifer, her friend Debra, and I all drove to SC. We left about midnight on a Wednesday night and drove until we got to SC on Thursday afternoon, early evening. It was quite a long drive, but at least we had plenty of drivers so no one person got overly tired. We called our son as soon as we got to our motel and he and a couple of his friends came over. He showed us his new prize p… Continue

After Graduation ...

We got to spend about 45 minutes with our son before he had to leave for SC and start his schooling there. Needless to say it was hard to say good bye again and my daughter cried when we were leaving, she worries about her brother so much.
While in SC my son not only started his schooling but he also tried something new, he went skydiving once. He did a piggyback jump I believe he called it and he loved the experience and talked about going to classes to learn to do it on his own. But he did not… Continue

Basic Training Time

James was gone, off to meet his new world and mom was home wondering how he would cope being in a strange new city, with lots of new people. My son is a quiet type of person and was not overly sociable while in school. The first two weeks of basic were hard on me without hearing from him and wondering how he was doing. His first phone call home was great. We did not talk much but just to hear his voice was great.
He had his civilian clothes shipped home and the day those clothes arrived and I op… Continue

My Son's Navy Decision

While my son James was still in High School I knew he wanted to work with things like computers and was always fascinated with how things worked. Being a single mother, I knew it would be hard for him to get money to go to college and I mentioned that he might think about the military and his first response was no thanks.
In the Spring of 2003 he asked me if I would be upset if he joined the Navy. I told him no it would not upset me, and that I would be proud if that was his choice. He was only… Continue

Connie, my idea is to get some paper lunch bags. These are cheap so I can put more $$ into goodies. Also I can turn them down and staple them shut so the contents don't spill out. They can be decorated too. I thought I could put stickers on them or maybe bows, something to make them festive. And, I think I can probably get more of these into a box.
I have access to a Grocery Outlet store and a couple of grocery liquidators where I can get nice candy and gum and stuff like that really cheap. What do you think?

Hi Connie, I'm trying to put a list together so I can send the sailors Christmas cards. I don't have all the zip codes :-( Is James zip 96601 or 96620? Thanks Jane

Hi Connie,
I'm glad that you joined the Nimitz group. How is James doing? I'm glad he got in touch with you.

Tell him thank you for being willing to e-mail Rich. His e-mail address is: homredebano@hotmail.com He doesn't have an official on yet as he's still in "C" School. James can e-mail him then Rich can reply and ask the questions he has. Rich already has housing in San Diego and his wife is waiting there for him with their 3 kids.

I hop all is well with you and all of your loved ones.
Hugs,
Charla
