The Holidays will be bittersweet. My sailor will be home and I haven't seen him in almost a year and my soldier will be in Iraq. I am thankful for modern technology and the fact that I can communicate with him. My heart breaks for all the moms, dads…
Just thought that I would stop in and see what is going on. Have been away for awhile due to unexpected surgery. Now recovering at home. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I talked to Todd. He was grilling out. Oh to be young and carefree!
I have been away from the group for awhile. I recently had surgery am now on the road to recovery. My son Todd is stationed in San Diego. Currently the ship is dry docked and he is enjoying his first apartment. He just let me know that he is down wi…
I really need some ideas for gifts for my son. I am feeling a little down as I just had surgery and am not able to do things I had wanted to do. My son is stationed in Iraq. I just would like to see a smile on his face Christmas morning. He says he…

Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
How to let him go. I am the type of mom that would have her kids live with her all the time if I could.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi CIndi, My son went to Hocking and got his fire/EMS certifications. This really helped him when he went to the Navy. He will be graduation corpsman school in a few weeks.
Big hugs to you. I KNOW exactly what your feeling. Having BOTH of my sons in Iraq was very hard. Tony(my navy son) just returned from 310 days in Iraq. Sam(army) will not be home until mid August. Do you know where he is going? My prayers are with you and he needs to keep in touch with you, make that a very BIG point with him. That's what keeps me going.
You can always send me a message if you want to talk.

my navy son has been in for over 12 years. My army son for over 6 years.
Navy son is a Cryptologist in Iraq.
Army son is a Company Commander for 988th MP CO, also in Iraq.
How long has your son been in the Navy (and Army for the other)? My husband was in the Army as well, but didn't re-enlist (left right before the 1st Gulf War, had to return--he was IRR, and now kicks himself for not staying in!). Our oldest son, is in BC right now.
Thanks for the encouraging words. In the meantime I've been e-mailing our Governor, Senator, Congressman, the Secretary of the Navy (Defense) and even shot an e-mail to the White House. I've written a letter via snail mail to Michelle O'Bama. So, hopefully, we'll have GOOD news for once. On a more personal note... We've hired a DON so now I'm back to being a regurlar floor nurse, thank goodness. I've worked10-14 hour days this week and have been salary this week so I did not get overtime.:( I've missed the one on one with the residents..
Cindi, Brad just went to MEPS for his eye consult and has severe nearsightedness and now we have to wait 2 weeks for a waiver. This waiting game is getting old but from what I hear that is the way the military is.
