No, dry dock is when the ships go into the shipyards for repairs and stuff and they're home.. Usually every few years they do that, but I was just telling you about my husbands ship.. All ships and their fleets are different. But most deployments won't go over 8 months. Never more than a year.

Yeahhh, that's not true, unfortunately. It just depends on the ship and the need of them in other places. Like, my husband's ship just deployed and they're doing a 5 month deployment, they'll come home for 5 months then deploy again for 5-8 months.. But, after that, the ship goes into dry docks for 2 years, so he won't be going anywhere. Some ships don't go into dry docks for years though, some stay in for a while. Plus, even when they're not deployed and the ships aren't in dry dock, they still do underways, where they go out anywhere from 3 days-1 months doing workups and training.

It sounds like a lot, and it is, but it's the truth and you need to hear this more than the stories recruiters tell. The only truth you'll hear about deployments and such from a recruiter, is that the Navy's are usually always shorter than the other branches.

Try not to be upset over it, things happen and emotions will run high, just keep it in mind. Codi and I had a few tense moments right before he left, and even more right before he deployed in February.. Just start tomorrow as a new day and go from there.

And my husband is an HT. It's part of the engineering division on his ship. Does your husband know what his job will be yet?

Hey Danielle! You definitely have kinda a leg up on finding N4M before he leaves. There's so much on here and so many people willing to help you out. I hope you enjoy the next couple of months with him before he enlists, remember though.. You're both going to be stressed, so try to let the little things that don't really matter slide and just enjoy your time together.

If you have ANY questions at all about any part of process of this, let me know.. I'll either let you know right away if I know the answer, or I'll find someone who does know and let you know as soon as I can!
