Profile Information

About me:
I'm a 37 year old mom of 4! I work as a truant officer for a middle school, and love trying to keep kids in school to get an education. Married to a wonderful man who took on responsibilities of my older two children and has become dad to them.
I am here to support or represent my:
Child/Stepchild
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To really listen to what he is saying and just be his cheer squad back home. They grow up so fast and all you can do is just be there.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Darci I am so very sorry to hear about your dad but just remember this, when someone we love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Darci don't ever lose that treasure that you had with your father. I know you said that Marke came home and I hope that he got to spend lots of time with his grandfather and I know how proud your father must be of Marke and now he has an angel watching over him at all times to keep him safe. Darci my heart and prayers go out to you and your family and if there is anything I can do for you, please let me know I am not far away.

Oh Darci, I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad. When you have a parent with a long-term terminal illness you prepare yourself for their death, at least you think you do, but you're never really prepared when it actually happens. It's expected, but still a shock. I'm glad Marke got to be home if only for a little while. It seems worse when things happen around holiday time and I don't blame you for wanting to just curl up in a ball somewhere and wish the world would go away. Been there and done that. It hurts.

Hey Darci, how are things going? You must be run off your feet with everything going on at home, and now the holidays coming up. Greg and Jill will be home for Thanksgiving. They have to drive almost 2,000 miles round trip for just a 3-day stay but Greg hasn't seen his dad in almost a year, since before Nick was diagnosed and he feels he needs to be here. He finally got his orders for squadron 12 and will be off in 2 weeks for a week's carrier training. So it looks as though he'll end up on a carrier when he finally gets deployed. I hope Marke is doing well, I'm sure he is. If I don't get around to writing again for a while, I hope you have a good Thanksgiving, well, as good as you can. We'll have a house full as Greg's sister and her family will be here too. It'll be giant turkey time.

Oh Darci my heart goes out to you and your family. In times like this there is nothing I can say but just know that if there is anything that you need, please let me know and I will help out in any way that I can. I will keep you, your dad and family in my prayers. You take care of yourself and touch back when you can.

Hey Darci, it has been awhile since I have talked to you but I did want you to know that there is another New York site, UPSTATE NY/NY STATE MOMS. On this site we are talking about getting together, just wanted to let you know so if you wanted to come along.

Hi Darci,
Sorry to hear about your dad, I know how hard it gets towards the end. My hubby is still hanging in there, he had his regular physical last week and everything seemed OK except his PSA test for prostate cancer was very high so the doc. wants to test him very 6 months. Then he sees the oncologist Dec. It would be ironic if he has prostate cancer as well as the myeloma. I mean, what else can go wrong! I, on the other hand, seem to be quite healthy, which is a good thing, because when the doc asked if Nick had any long term care arrangements I said "Yes, it's me."
Greg is still waiting for official orders. He's told that he'll be assigned to a certain squadron at SD but as we all know, if it aint in writing it doesn't count. He can't put in for the rest of his bonus until the orders are cut. I tell him "you're in a great place, you go surfing almost every day, you have a wife and a nice apartment and lots of friends.......be happy!"

Hi Darci,How is your dad doing? Sorry I haven't been on for a while but life in the fall is super hectic for me. Mike got released form the Navy last week and is now home. So Making Dr. Appt's to find out about the cyst and I guess there are some dead brain cells in the front of his brain. Probably trama based (snowmobiles and 4 wheels) So will know more later. But really need all the tests released from the Navy and that isn't so easy to get. Soyou are in my prayers and thanks Martha

Darci, it's me again. If you go to my page and scroll down to my photos, I've posted some from the FRAC graduation. Greg's 2nd from the left in most of them and that's Jill pinning on his wings (at least that's her back view).

Hey Darci, Greg finally graduated FRAC yesterday. They changed the date on him so many times we were beginning to think it would never happen. When he had his first flight he was so excited he said he couldn't believe the Navy actually paid him to have so much fun! Also, I made a mistake about his deployment date, he thinks it won't be for over a year. I thought spring of 2010 but he said more likely 2011 BUT, you know the Navy, anything can change, and probably will!

Hope your dad's doing OK. Hang in there.
