My baby boy is out on his first deployment into the Pacific Ocean. I am so proud of him. I am really going to miss spending Christmas with him this year for the first time ever!

I figured they headed back out, he said they would only be there a couple of days. We haven't heard from him since the phone call. I think putting out a donation box is a great idea. I too work for a jerky maufacturer...ConAgra foods. If you look at that newsletter I sent to you it has great ideas for things to send to the ship. Anything non-pershipable would be great...cookies, candy, even toiletries, toothpaste and things like that. I asked my son if he knows yours and he said that he doesn't. Hope your having a great weekend.

Hi Dawn, seen you were from Michigan and had to tell you that we are originally from Monroe as well! I went to elementary school at Hurd Road (god, I hope it's not STILL there) and my sisters went to Jefferson High school. We used to live out on Detroit Beach many years ago. I married a sailor from Livonia and we live in the south now :-) but come back to MI as all of our family is still there.

Hi Dawn, private message me your email and I will forward the Benfolds September newsletter, which has a ton of info on it. Tim knew right after he moved onto the Benfold in February when they were going out. When you private message me send me your son's last name and I will ask my son if he knows him. I will send you my son's last name too. We have heard from Tim almost everyday since they shipped out. Just a short email but that's better than nothing!! We sent him a package today, wonder how long it will take to get there. Have a great weekend!!

Hey Dawn, this is my son's first deployment too. He is a sonar tech. What does your son do on the Benfold? My son tells me they get mail once every other week, so be sure to send him fun stuff. Are you on the Ombudsman's email list? My son graduated from boot last September, your son didn't have much time with the ship before they deployed, did he.

I love you my dear friend and you and Michael are in my prayers for the loss of his friend. God Bless his family during this most difficult time. My sincere sympathies for everyone? Some times I wonder when it will stop but then we all know that freedom comes with a price. Some give most like the song says, Most give ALL !!!! THe ulitamate sacrafice, for God and Country . Love and hugs :D
