Lynda, Can't spell the city, but it is pronounced i-ee-ah she will be on 7th floor. She said you can see the Arizona Memorial out of one of the windows. She picked this because it is between HNL and her base, and she is taking college classes so it…

Hi my name is Alex. I'm not a Navy mom, but my girlfriend has left for boot camp 2 weeks ago. She's going to miss Christmas, New Years, and my birthday in January. I don't know how I'm going to make it til February, but I'm trying my hardest.

Dear Katdiver, Is he just home on leave or between boot camp graduation (PIR) and A school? If so, he might just be depressed that he has to leave again and is having a hard time coping with the thought of being gone again. He might want to not get…

I have several kids, but my oldest is currently in boot camp. We miss him. He has missed every major holiday, and his 19th birthday was yesterday. I wish I could heard from him. It just feels like something is missing this holiday. Probably just his…

By the way, please consider joining the Northern California Navy Moms group and the New Moms Stop Here group. There a number of groups on So Cal but they don't seem to be as active as the North Calif group (I am their admin). The members there are v…

If this is his first time away from home, it can't be easy. Don't nag. Give him space. Let him play his Xbox (at least you know where he is, right?). Simply enjoy his physical presence. He probably is VERY TIRED and need time for his body to renew i…

Hi Ladies, My son is home from Great Lakes for the next couple of weeks, but he is not adjusting well. Since Friday night, he stays in his room and plays the stupid XBox. We want to do things with him, but he grunts at us and says he is tired. I am…

I never in my life thought that saying goodbye would be so hard. Our son left for Boot Camp last week. I cried all the way home. That would be over 100 miles. My husband was in the Navy for 20 years and you would think that I would be use to this b…

I am a single mother of two, both in the Navy. My daughter is a yeoman, stationed at Oahu, Hawaii (ain't life tough?). My son is an intelligence specialist aboard the USS Harry S. Truman. I also volunteer at the USO. It is my way to give back for all that has been done for my children.
I live in Pensacola, FL. My cats and dogs keep me company.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
The moms on this site give great support and information! Whenver I have a question about the Navy, I can always get an informed answer. And, from my experiences, I am able to offer answers to others.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Danny and I are going to Oahu 12/22-29 to visit John. We've got a 11 hour layover in Kona on the way back and John is going to take a shuttle plane to and from while we're there. We're going to Maui for a day trip too. Wish we had more time to visit with him. He wants us to skydive with him.

Dear Dawn,
Have not heard from you in such a long time. How is your Christopher doing? Has he adjusted to his "temporary" assignment? I'm sure he can't wait for the year to be up so he can get on with his IS work. Will he return to the school for refresher, update training or anything like that? At least now he will have another job and training to add to his resume. Please let us IS moms know how both your sailors are doing!
Hugs,
Mary

The last 30 days has gone by fast. I had a couple of sales and I had to play a lot of golf (really, really stressful LOL). I had to get my rounds in or I would be kicked off the Half Moon Bay Women's Golf Club. In between, I am getting the house ready. Since I started on this campaign to get more N4M people into the Northern California Navy Moms group, I have met so many people on this site - some I'll met this Sunday and some next month and Sharon invited us to her son's homecoming party. Isn't that nice! One gentleman with insightful comments about his time as a sailor during the Vietnam War.

Thanks for your comment, Dawn... is it any wonder why society has the problems it does with parents who coddle their children and never allow them to grow up? I think so many of them have structured their lives to revolved around their children that they are simply lost when children do as they are destined to do... fly from the nest! Yet these are the same parents who whine and complain when their children are still living at home sponging off them when they are 30+ years old. Nice to know there are a few of us that think alike!

Haven't heard of any adventures on the HI group from you in quite a while. Are you sick? or just busy with other stuff. How's Meaghan? My son is out on deployment - he won't be back to HI until late this year.

Thanks for the atta boy, I was tired of all the whining about not hearing from their kids...I can understand why they don't contact home. and joined the Navy.....aaaahhhh.
Have a great day and hopefully we can get back to more informative stuff about the Truman and what is going on. Take care.

Sorry, just saw your thread. Deland Fl is in Central Fl. We are right in between Daytona Beach and Orlando. We will get out to see him. I am planning the end of his enlistment. It is another 2 yrs away. We have a 5 yr old and that makes it kind of tough. I figure he'll be 7 and alot easier to travel that distance with him. I have already started saving :) I don't get on this page very often but once in a while I get a few mins. Just went under my profile and saw your comment to me from months ago. really sorry about that.
