How about the layered bean dip with chips? I will need to reheat when I get there so let me know if that will work. Also, there is a cherry cream cheese pie. Hey Donna, where is that house in GA? We maybe looking sooner rather than later. My company…

Maybe our sailors might not be as excited about your wish, Sheila, but us moms would sure enjoy getting together with all the sailors too. While we have our son over the holidays, he will be in Connecticut only from Dec 28 to Jan1, as we are visitin…

When our son was at BC this spring, the word was that letters went out only on Sunday, although they could receive mail at any time. A recruit is usually very busy for several weeks (e.g. ironing clothes at 2am, etc). The first you may hear is the l…

April's basics cover the essentials. Our sailor asked Santa for a digital camera once he got to SD. Probably should keep items limited and small. While they have more room for stuff, they also must pack and carry everything in a single trip whenever…

LisaCoMom of Aaron - Hoppi aka Angie posted a discussion some months back that had the school times for the rates trained at GL. From that listing, this is what was there for FC FC "A" school: SCC is 12 days long ATT is 34 days long FC "A" School i…

To Andi - It just dawned on me , , , If your husband is a 6 yr enlistee, he will have SCC and ATT in Great Lakes. If he is a 4 yr enlistee he would go direct to Point Loma. Lots of exciting stuff in BC before then. . . .

Deb, Thanks for asking about the leave for December, I spoke w/ my son & he was not sure whether he'd go out to San Diego first or get to come home...I guess there's a few of them in this boat (no pun intended) He said he was getting ahead in the class. I'll keep reading on the site hopefully we get some feedback from Sonar Chief

Hi Deb, I am still getting the lingo down, all the acronyms & such. Anthony was getting his orders tomorrow to move from RDC to across the street, how long was your son in school in GL? I've heard 9 weeks, Anthony was told 86 days...so we're expecting sometime early next year he'll be heading to San Diego. Is the ATT school tough? I have many questions but just try to go a day at a time...Any info is greatly appreciated!

You're right, he is going STG and after a week of ATT is 3 days ahead. I was asking him about graduating and there is no graduation, however they don't ship the guys out one at a time...they wait until there is a group and send them all together. So of course my next question was how many is a "group" and he said there were only 4 of them that classed up at the same time. Don't know if that's an answer to the question, but it's all I got. I'll be so glad to have him in SD, that's only 6 hours from me...I'll be able to see him then and he'll be happier closer to home for a while. My mom lives in Pomona, so she's close also. I would imagine they will cross paths as you say...that's what's so great about this website...our kids can watch for each other and already have some kind of connection when they meet because their moms know one another.

As far as the other son goes, he had his legal briefing today and they called me so I could be in on the conversation, it looks like another 2 weeks, at least, from this Wednesday.

Hey Deb M,

DJ is in Divsion 921, ship 06. Do you have any idea when they leave for "A" school and how long it lasts? I cannot remember what his recruiter told me. I do know that in the last letter that DJ wrote to his Dad said he gets to come home after "A" school for 14 days before he gets deployed. Have you heard the same from your Son? Are you going to be at the meet and greet on 4-9-09? I know I cannot wait to see DJ in his uniform, I am going to be crying!!!

Debbie,
I am glad that you got a card from Charlie. We got a call from Chris on Thurs. afternoon. He said that he is sick again.... I am praying for all of them that they can finish their requirements for graduation and that they get over their colds and coughs... (Chris said that almost all of their division is sick)
Can't wait to see them...
