I spoke to him tonight about his bonus and what other Navy moms said and he tells me he is not getting a bonus, only certain jobs get a bonus. Do you know anything about that? Jason is an ABE (aviation boatswain equipment). I may be going into NYC for some more Navyformom activities. Some moms are recruiting with Navy recruiters on the Intrepid and there is a fireworks show at night. Others are going to a Knicks game, and then there is the Veterans Day parade. I signed up for the Intrepid. Hope all is well with you and your family.

He gets to come home for Christmas so I am pretty excited about that. I haven't been on navyformoms much. Mostly just stay in touch through email. Daniel had to run 12 miles the other day. This type of work or place he is at seems to require a lot of that kind of thing, how is Stephen? and how are you???

At 8:13pm on October 20, 2008, Pat L D said…: Hi Debbie, no Jason has not gotten his sign on bonus. He has been struggling with money. Jason purchased a used car with a car loan and with the loan, insurance, gas, and his phone, there isn't anything left for Jason. Needless to say that the first few weeks he was stationed in VA he had to pay to stay in a hotel a couple of times a week as it took a lot for Jason to get used to living on the ship which he still has trouble with and he says not many sailors stay on the ship. He is trying to get housing, I pray he gets something as he can't afford to pay for anything and his morale is not what it was in A school or even boot camp. So far he's been in VA for two months and his father has sent him $200 and so have I. We can't afford to continue to do that. Jason works long odd hours right now and can't even get another job if he wanted to because of the odd hours he works. A few days a week he is working 14 hours a day! Also it seems like almost once a month the Navy says they overpaid him then his next paycheck is even less and then he is overdrawn when his bills come in and the amount is automatically withdrawn from his account. This is messing him up. I don't have any answers for him, I feel bad and it is affecting his morale. I am glad to hear that Stephen is doing well. Jason just needs to adjust and it is taking him some time; he hasn't made any friends in VA, he is rather quiet and keeps to himself although he did have friends in boot camp and A school. Hopefully Stephen's paperwork gets straightened out soon, I know that kind of stuff can be a headache. My job put a block on N4M's so I go crazy until I can get on at home and then I am very tired but can't miss talking to my Navy moms. Let me know when Stephen gets his sign on bonus, Jason thinks it was all a sales pitch. I'll let you know if or when Jason gets his. Have a good week.
