From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
They have to grow up and become their own person. I have also had to learn since Brandon has been away at BC that he will not have to depend on me anymore and that it is time to let him be a man. No matter what He knows that I will always be here for him anytime he needs me and that I am more proud of him now than I have ever been!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

No can on base can tell you that you can NOT see your son at the airport. If you want to go to the airport then GO! I don't know if you know his flight times or not. Parents can meet their new Sailors at the USO lounge in Terminal 2. I've even heard of parents being able to get a gate pass so they can even sit with their kids at the gate. I'm so sorry to hear what you had to experience yesterday. At least from here on out you'll have more communication with him while he's in A School. Bootcamp is behind you now. You no longer have a recruit, you have a Sailor. And your Sailor is going to be call you every day if he so desires. :)

Debby, I am sooo sorry. I'm just reading this as I have been out the entire day and haven't checked my messages since last night. I would have no way of knowing as to what is going on with his liberty as I can only find when I'm at work, and I don't go back to work until Tuesday. Being that it's Sunday evening, what happened today? Did you get to see him?

Thanks for stopping by my page. Our sons PIR on Friday was awesome. I will never, ever forget it. Worth the trip for sure. It snowed during PIR and then let up for the rest of the weekend. It added to the formality of the whole thing. When those garage doors open and you see the divisions march in-hold onto your heart. You will melt!!! Have fun and be careful! let me know how it goes for you, too!

I'm up early, have to work all day and then sometime this evening we will head to Vegas. I can't WAIT! I did tell my boss that if I don't come back it's cuz I FROZE to death. :-) It's gonna be COLD! I'll have my laptop also, but the casino we are staying in charges for Internet so I won't be on until I get to the airport if I have time.

Please drive carefully Debby, I have made the drive you are making and it is not too bad. We drove all the way from Milwaukee to Valdosta GA in one day. That was when Scott and I took a rode trip to Key West FL. That will never happen again. We almost killed each other.

Oh my heck, how did you hear that already! That's AWESOME. we are one day closer to seeing them, I can't wait.

When you are only 100 miles away from LV it really isn't that big of a deal. The novelty wears off. I only like to go there now to go to shopping, it's the closest mall to us!
