About me:
I am a divorced mother of two, my son Brian 26 and a daughter who is 28. I have one grandson from my daughter, 7 years old, and 3 grandchildren from Brian, girl 6, boy 4 and girl 1. Don't see Brian's kids enough due to the Navy.
I recently retired from a government job after 27 years service. Not sure what to do with myself yet.
I have two brothers that retired from the Navy and one from the Air Force and my ex husband and his brother were in the Navy. So I'm not completely in the dark.
Love this site!

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud, Was relieved, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
The Navy does what they want with your kids! And they don't tell mom's anything!
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, This was the best decision he/she could have made

HI Deborah, that's okay we are all busy. Well, you just have to focus on healing and recovering and just plain taking it easy. I'm glad Brian was home on leave and that he will see you after Mother's Day. KC will be home for a couple of weeks so that will be a nice Mother's Day present for me. He said he had ordered something for me last weekend for MD and I suspect it is something electronic with all the hints he was dropping. It should arrive while he is here. Guessing as to what it might be but not sure. I would of preferred if he just take me out to lunch or buy me flowers than for him to be spending all his money on what he might of have bought. I'm okay and keeping busy as usual. Did you see everybody's homecoming pics over in RMD? It was good to hear from you and you take care now. Chat with you another time. Karen

I was just thinking of you, and was going to message you today to see how you were doing?
Yes everyone on board has a copy of the Homecoming Reunion guide. They will also have a chaplain coming on board to speak with them on what we call a R&R. Which means a Return and Reunion. I hope your doing well, and it won't be much longer until you see your son :D

Hi Deborah,
My son definitely knows your son. I consider your son one of the most important people on this deployment! He's one of the fellas that keeps those helos in tip top shape and flying safely. That is Soooooooo important to me. This group makes a great team and have to depend upon each other for the success of each mission flight. As a mother, I have had more than a few nightmares thinking about Guy flying the only helo over water with no back up helo to fly rescue if something happens. They've had a few "interesting" flights that I know of that have given me the willies......I'm sure there are more that never get reported to the Moms. We can be very proud our our fellas in DET TWO. They are doing a great job and are having a very successful mission.
Yes, my husband and I plan to be there when the ship returns. Guy is hoping to fly the helo off the ship but we won't know until time gets closer. Can't say exactly when they are coming home....but it is very close to the original date.
This has been a tough time for us and for Guy since his grandfather died last week. He tried to arrange to come home for the service this weekend but it was going to be too difficult to make arrangements and the Navy couldn't guarantee he'd make the flight even if we could make the flight reservations. We did have several long conversations with him when they were last in port and the folks at the squadron have been very supportive. Guy was extremely close to his grandfather. When he was 20 he spent the summer in Wyoming taking care of Grandpa, making sure he ate right and took his meds (Parkinsons disease). Not many 20 year olds would go out of their way to find a job a thousand miles from home near his grandparent so he could take care of him every day. I'm glad that Guy was able to visit his grandfather just before he took off on this deployment.
We plan to have an inurnment service at Arlington National Cemetery when Guy gets home. He'll be able to participate in that.
We just drove from AZ to WY and now to Henderson, NV for the memorial service this weekend.

It will be great to see him in SD real soon. We shall look for you there !

yes, make sure he has a laptop next time around. Even jay doesnt have a camera with him, but he knows he needs to make a way to send me pics. He usually sends me pics every port or so or even when hes just fixing the plane. Im glad that you like them...
